  1. Not really. I perhaps keep up on legislation more than most so nothing new there really. Everything on my cutting was fine. Didn't like my hinge feathering rather than cutting ears off. Other than that i knew it all. The thing that really got my back up was how basically saying if your saw isn't caliper sharpened its wrong. Just had 3 guys do CS30/31 in the last 2 years one did their test in January. They were never asked to caliper sharpen on the test 2 not even shown it on the course. Also two of them also feather the hinge like me rather than cut lumps off. How can they get a pass when you refresh you have to do it this way.
  2. There is a Ford and a Valmet on the wilsons website under used forest tractors that both look to have FMV cranes on. One for 11k the other 23k
  3. I've just sat through three days of chainsaw refresher training. CS 30,31,32. I asked if this would be accepted by FISA and i was told it would be.
  4. I have a 13" on my 550. Best combo imo very fast, easy to sharpen less vibes. Very light very flickable, great balance. Proper saw for the woods. I have a sugi bar as the husky ones didn't seem upto the high chain speed.
  5. If your going to be hauling waste and not doing things that fall within the forestry/agri useage your going to have to run on white diesel. Road work uses the most fuel in our tractors. I expect we often use more fuel going there and back than we do there. so it will be expensive to run. You also then need trailers to go with it.
  6. How old are we talking? Personally my choice would be an 8150 at 125hp or a 8350 at closer to 140hp. I'd stay away from the 2000-2002 versions as electronics were featured more prominently on them. The mid 90s versions have just the right balance of robustness vs bells and whistles. Now the turning circle on these isn't great which is their only real flaw but as a forwarding tractor they are brilliant. Lots of space to spin the seat around and use the crane. If you really want Wilsons do a forestry special where they take out all the electrics and fit a manual diff lock 4wd etc. Take out the Delta clutch pack too ( which i actually find really useful to have). Anyway they do it so you can have a proper old school manual tractor. If you thinking about 80s Zetors and Massys big tractors i'm afraid i can't really help.
  7. That was the one i was thinking of. Didn't know it had ended.
  8. There is an old JD head on Ebay which is just a chassis that was <500 quid.
  9. No i'm afraid not. What head are you looking for them to fit.
  10. Stomach cramps could be the Neproxen.
  11. A proper job from at least 5 years ago.
  12. Say i wanted to buy a tractor from a dealer in france. Do i pay french taxes on it and then ship it back to the UK with nothing else to pay? Or do i then have to pay import vat as well.
  13. About 20% i think from other readings on here. Transport will be expensive.
  14. I shall dig out my 18" .325 bar. I've had the 15 on my 550 it cuts like a 357 with a 15. However i love my 13" bar on my 550.
  15. Im on a lantra refresher course next week.................
  16. Ouch. Wont want to be the one to have to tell the boss that happened.
  17. Bradstocks in Kimpton thats not far from Stevenage. Herts garden machinery which is in Welwyn Garden City.
  18. Lighter, stronger, harder wearing, replaceable nose sprocket. I've noticed that the vibes are less off the bar too, just runs smoother.
  19. I thought they used Turkey Oak for fancy fire doors and fire resistant beams where needed. As it doesn't really burn it just goes black and smolders for ages.
  20. I'd go for a 576xpg and a 550 xpg. 13" with a spare 15" on the 550 and a 18" and a 24" for the 576
  21. Beaten too it.
  22. Is this a 562 or a 560 with a 562 wrap handle.
  23. I think they're around 4500 mark. I wonder if they do a shoot extension like they do for their bigger uk chippers.
  24. Sugi light. Oregon Pro bars stay grey at least and are a bit cheaper.
