  1. Looks good. I think they would be good for early starts on hot summer days. Keeping the noise down. Also for training i think they'd have a great part to play again keeping the noise down so easier communication. I'd like to see the rear handled one in action too.
  2. Look at the Strech Air Gladiators. I've got them had them 8 months i think now and still look good. Few bramble tears but that is it. I got the class 2 ones rather than the class 1 on a whim. The pads are a little thicker but i still have no complaints about them. Next time i'll get class 1 though. Think they were 150 in the end of line sale.
  3. just looked up the specs 6400 Weight: 8,488 lbs [3850 kg] (9,811 4WD) Wheelbase: 93.7 inches [237 cm] Length: 174.8 inches [443 cm] Height: 107.9 inches [274 cm] 8350 Weight: 11,490 lbs [5211 kg] Wheelbase: 100.8 inches [256 cm] Length: 194.9 inches [495 cm] Height: 111.4 inches [282 cm] Not a lot in it. However when you stand next to a 8000 series they seem massive. It's the tyres.
  4. With a roof mounted crane if you go from 6400 to say 8100 you will feel much happier as the weight and length of the tractor will provide you with much greater stability. Yes with the 6400 is a great nimble tractor in the woods. Its turning circle isn't great like all valmets. However with the bigger 8000 series you need a bit more room to turn. You just need to loose a tree on a rack corner to turn properly and if you have a trailer behind a steering draw bar is a must. I also think for the operator the bigger cab of the 8100 is a much nicer place to be. I think the linkage is something like 6 tonne lift so you can put a nice big bandit chipper behind. I've used the A series loads in the woods which really replaced the 6000 series. I'd trade the maneuverability for the 130hp for pulling forwarding trailer and road work though. As i'm sure you know roofmount+winch will really sort out any forest situation you get yourself into.

  8. My fresh stuff is expensive then. £8 for a grain bucket and 60 quid for a Tipping trailer.
  9. Well then it probably is then. Defiantly not a Larch or a Dawn Redwood there are two types of swamp cypress though.
  10. 560 and 576xp You'd then have a 50cc 60cc 70cc and a 90cc class saw. Two of which would be orange. I'd have a 576 over a 461 just as i've used huskys more and have a wider selection of spares. The 461 is good though.

  12. Very sharp debarking spade and a very sharp knife. Hard to tell but i dont think it is swamp cypress.
  13. The worst ones are where you fell towards the machine and lay it up the side. If you miss you hit the engine:thumbdown:
  14. I like the mini felling bar. The 560 seems to work very well with that 20" bar.
  15. How much are you looking to spend on a tractor? If you want to haul timber/wood chip there will be fuel and maybe even operators license issues. A decent 130hp tractor will be about 35-50k second hand and before you can do anything with it you need implements. Big chipper to make the most of it would be 10-30k, forwarding trailer 20-50k grain trailer 6-8k. Normally have 200l ish tanks so £270 to fill it up if you need to use white £130ish on red.
  16. If you want to do commercial side arm flailing you will need a 130hp tractor plus and an expensive side arm flail. Decorum Have their own fleet of Kobotas that do most of the stuff they own around there. Couple of farmers round hemel way do side arm stuff on the side.
  17. A few years ago now.. There is a Shell garage near me that is very popular with tree surgeons mainly because its on the way to everywhere. It killed one of my saw 346xpg took it to the dealers where there were 10 saws with the same problem. Turns out fuel had all came from the same station. Dealer said it was too much ethonol in the fuel.
  18. Been thinking this a lot lately. Amazingly two tree surgeons have started up in my road recently.
  19. The forum seems very very slow for me. Other site run fine this one just takes ages to load the page. Tried clearing cache but still slow. Any ideas?
  20. Thats why we have Tigercats:thumbup1: True though there will always be work for good cutters. Mainly were the machines can't go.
  21. It should run off the winches own self sealed hydraulics system.
  22. My 550 has gone in with what i fear maybe the same issue. Fuel came from BP too think there was a bad batch.
  23. Clark Forest use to sell those things. I wanted one last year and droped them an email but they didn't have any. I used them in Finland and they were super.
  24. I've seen that it lives in the machine grave yard at the back of JD formally Timberjack in Tampere Finland.
