  1. Good point. The ash off the paper will still cause issues.
  2. Having burnt plenty of paper you will create one hell of alot of ash burning them. Why not just tie them together with some string cheaper and will burn without having o fish your coat hanger out after
  3. Lab sleeps in bedroom and spingerdor downstairs. Springerdor comes on bed first thing in a morning
  4. If retention is the goal then a rigid brace at the union or lack of union and a flexible brace higher in the crown.
  5. Ultimately the developer has caused damage to a TPO tree without permission. They should be liable to a significant fine but as some of us realise councils aren't always the straightest in terms of planning so it may never get persued. If the tree has fungal brackets on it is probably advisable to have the tree inspected so as to gain a truer reflection as to what the problem is.
  6. I'm well aware hawthorn is a bushy shrub but also a tree. All I am pointing out is that in theory BS3998 is what one is meant to do. I live in the real world however and also realise that it is not always practical to do so. However from the pictures it may have been practical to remove said stump back to the one behind eliminating the points for regrowth. Its what I'd have done if it was my company doing the work. Yes there would be one monster wound but it wouldn't be coming back in a hurry. At the end of the day it is job achieved. I personally think that utility and roadside work sometimes needs challenging especially when us mear domestic contractors then have to explain why their TPO's hawthorn (Yes there are some) can't have the same done.
  7. Ah but should it be the standard cut for clearance. Yes its achieved the desired effect but does it fit into BS3998 there is the question. Where does it say when pruning for clearance the operator must leave a stub. Surely if the pruning is going to be done "correctly" the regrowth will be less aggressive and the desired clearance will be maintained for longer without the need for repeat visits to deal with the epicormic that will cause problems further down the line. For the sake of another minute you might as well prune it back to the the appropriate place. I appreciate however the habitat creation as mentioned by Treequip but was habitat creation the aim?
  8. I say its my best price however you want to pay is fine. To be fair though cash is better as 7 days for a cheque to clear where as i pay cash in and its instant. No reduction though
  9. A bit of ivy removal oh how I love ivy removal
  10. I've a little inverter set much better than my 105amp mig which I failed every time to get a weld with even on the thinnest cleanest metal.

  14. We have a wind blow tulip tree we are doing. If anyone wants the timber for nowt or a small donation i can put towards colitis and chrons research then contact me. Timber is in burscough west lancs and should be done and chopped tommorow for dinner time. Access is good its lying on a car park. Would guess a couple of tonne or so pm or text 07970521692 am at a gig tonight so text only
  15. Supposed to be doing some college work today but have now ended up looking at two emergency jobs. One small twisted willow which is heaving but with no targets can wait and the other is a rather large ivy covered tulip tree which in the time from me answering the call to getting there had gone from leaning to lying on a carpark. The trunk just missed a car and the rest of the tree just missing wiping out a building. Thats me sorted for tommorow. I least I didn't have to tell everyone they must evacuate the building as its retirement flats.
  16. Windy in Wigan. My fence has blown down at home. I'm on a paperwork day and filling log bags up prior to going out later tonight to a gig so the wind ain't a problem for me today other than controlling the draw on the chimney.
  17. I.m with Santander and money transfers for me are pretty much instant. My only gripe is cheques but otherwise they are spot on.
  18. I sold a saw to a chap in scotland over ebay as used and the problems were well explained. He ended up with a part refund as I really couldn't be bothered with the hassle.
  19. Carbon monoxide it more an issue of incomplete combustion. I'd be more worried about having the fire tested if it was gas. Trees may cause a downdraft but really the gas fire should be through a cowl even though many aren't. In my opinion it is not the right thing to remove the tree if other avenues haven't been explored first (unless the person whose tree it is wants it removing)
  20. order over phone. I only live 5 mile away and still order over phone
