  1. I guess its the anonymity of being on the internet,I would prefer it if people used their real names. No one I have met in real life from this Forum has introduced themselves by their user name. I wish me first name was somthing more colourful than Michael."Delicious" would suit me better I beleive.
  2. Where ever you like! Plan is. Pub Curry Pub Can we have some suggestions of a good Pub to meet at and a good Curry House in the Bexley area?
  3. No,although I hope he can come.I wil book my flights now.
  4. Guess I won't mention the Sauna Sean
  5. I was chatting to Chris Baker on the phone about a get together and he suggested that area might be a good bet.We could keep it to the Black Prince off the A2 and there would be accom available there?
  6. What about a few Beers in the Bexley area on the evening of Saturday the 4th December? There is plenty of accomadation available in that area and its not to far into Kent for the Londoners. I'm keen on this but its all a matter of numbers....
  7. Use them for Jack Stands? Burn the other 59.
  8. Not so. The level and standard of Arboriculture in any given Country is reflective of the needs of Clients.
  9. Thats the best thing I've seen all day!
  10. Climbers are specialists who have often gained more qualifications and experience in the job than groundies. They are also subjected to higher personal risk and responsibility than groundies. It is typical to see foreign employers advertising for "experianced Climbers" at locations around the World. Not so Groundies, which indicates that its easier to source local persons for the easier jobs than train them to be Climbers.
  11. I think 2/3 is about right. There are probably many reasons to justify the lower pay rate, but reduced chance of personal injury would be one of them.
  12. Just do loads of "Cashie's"! :thumbup::thumbup:
  13. Mike Hill enjoy's watching your video's with the sound off. He also likes not reading your text,as he feels you are an arrogant, self important ,pompas ,over weight, little Napoleon.
  14. Welcome Ian. I would suggest doing as much part time as you can for local firms to see if you really like it or not.Buying your own Harness might make it a bit more likely for someone else to "give you a go" one day. Generally speaking Employers hire a person to fill a role immeadiatly, not grown into one. The industry has not shortage of recently qualified but inexperianced Climbers.Proving your ability to Graft is more important.
  15. "used wan of these yokes" Sound like a Chinese Actor on a Cooking Program.
  16. I would like to see someone Bore Cut with a Two man saw........ I've Logged Timber that was passed up 100 years prior because there was no way to Fell and Recover the Timber at the time. Those guys knew the limits of their gear and ability.
  17. Thats not True. In the Past heavy leaning Trees were "passed up" as Fallers could not deal safely with Tension. Some times Trees were Felled across the lean, but the chance of slabbing the Butt Log and Pinching the Saw was high. And there was another man on that side of the Saw. With a Chainsaw you can Swing Trees by Cutting away some of the Hinge as the Tree Falls,Do all tasks from one side and correct lean by cutting out the Back cut in stages.None of these things can be done with a Two Man Saw.
  18. 660 is a saw built for Logging. The use they get in Arb work is nothing compared to burning 20L of gas a day in the Bush. There are few Husky's in use in large felling operations because their big saws are not up to it. ""STIHL...If they wern't so good,we'd still have alot of Rain Forest left".
  19. Humbolt Face cuts are to mazimise the Value of the Log due to the waste being left in the Stump. This Cut was impossible to make in the age of Axes.
  20. I wish I had Facial Hair Worthy of that Machine.
