  1. The time has come for me and my Business partner to go our separate ways. I am wondering how the Value of a Company is calculated? The Value of the Tools is easy, but how do you calculate the value of the Company name? Good Will? Income potential? Many thanks Mike
  2. In a clear Fell job we did there was a group of up rooted Trees. Some had fallen against one large one and continued growing. First of all,"Driving" is not a technique you should use if safer methods are available, such as a Winch or a Machine are available to push out the Tangle. However sometimes ,like this time, there was no Machine on site at this stage and I had to remove the Tangle to continue Falling the Trees.Working around the Tangle was not a safe option. I cut up the Tree Holding the Tangle up after clearing two escape Routes.I faced this Tree up across the Lean and weight of the Trees resting against it.Then I cut up each Tree that was up rooted face cut across the lean. Then I went back to a suitable large Tree and Felled it at right angles into the Tangle.Unfortunatly this Tree was leaning back and required Wedging. 3. How many Ton do you load out in a Day on average?
  4. Money well spent mate. Mine are two Years old and I wear them 6 Days a Week. They have seen the Needle and Thread a good few times but you need to maintain any item of Equipment.
  5. Where?
  6. I heard a story in the States about a crew that had a particularly difficult client. One of the Crew did a Poo in her BBQ.
  7. Shame. Check out the "Factory seconds" part of the Website.Big Savings on Boots with Cosmetic marks.
  8. How about a pair of handmade Boots designed exactly for your job? http://www.westcoastshoe.com/wesco/stock.asp Uk forestry is not really that hard on gear, either Machinery or Equipment. So a pair of these should last you ages. They are a bit tight at the start but become really comfortable.
  9. I think it is a very good idea, however I would concentrate more on the actual use of the Saw rather than theory of operation. Learning about Tension and Conpression in Timber is all nice, but thats only dangerous on big stuff and only some of the time. I suggest. Sharpening/Chain Tension/Fueling Correct Body Position when using the Saw,Kick Back and what causes it. Go out and cut some Logs up all day Then Take the Saw apart, see where its dirty,Clutch Cover/Filter/ how to clean it. Go Home.
  10. Fair enough. They are however still made by people who do not seemingly have "build quality" first and foremost in their business plan.
  11. Pick up your phone mate

  12. I'm going to Sweden soon to Shoot some Deer with my Shotgun.Although Shotguns probably don't work on Deer because its illeagle in the UK and there are not Qualifications for it. I'll likely have the first round a #6,then a #4 followed by #2,then if its still running "000 Buck" then a Solid because its likely distant by then.
  13. I just don't buy Stein Stuff any longer,it might be cheap but thats all it is in my experience. Two Climbing Bags Broke. Saw Strops Elastic Breaks in the Cold. Rope Bag Came apart. Throw line Bag was a disaster. Throw Bag Exploded on impact. With that kind of quality I am not prepared to trust my Arteries and Tendons to a Pair of Chainsaw Trousers made by folks that can't get a Bag built right. Its a Bag.A Bag.
  14. Spot on! I discussed Daido with a genuine "Old School Hero" in the states. Mega LOL.
  15. Madill 171 Skyline Yarder. Four guys can sit around the Engine and eat lunch.I worked with one for two years in NZ.
  16. What about if your "Threw" a big top and at the same time a Small Aircraft flew beneath it whilst a Motorcyclist Jumped over it all?
  17. The Euro is and always has been unpopular in Germany with the working Class.Firstly their savings got bashed in the change over and now they see them selves as the Horse thats dragging the Crippled Euro Cart.
  18. Really after a Trap Gun Mick.Shooting Clays is all I plan to do with it.
  19. I've done that to make up Tool Strops before I knew any decent knots.Worked well.
  20. Thanks for that.I have been looking on gunstar but I don't really know good from bad apart from the leading brands like Browning, etc.
  21. No,its an adjustable Comb I want. I have tried more than a few,I am used to shooting sporting guns, not that I have done a hell of alot of Trap shooting anyway.I had a fiddle with a gun that a Sports shop lent the Range, after I adjusted the Comb I shot well with it.But it was a poor quality gun as the Stock Cracked and it shot loose quickly.
  22. Your right its just going to shoot at Clays. Adjustable comb because I "Rifle" the Shotgun when I am shooting and need to break the habit. I like the look of Brownings.I have a A5 at home.
  23. Recently I have gotten into shooting Clays, however my Shotgun is only proofed for Lead and I can only use Steel in regional competitions. So,I am looking for a U/0 with an adjustable comb and have a budget of £2K. There arn't any places here that stock Trap Guns,so I would be heading over to the UK to find one.I realize that shooting a gun is truely its measure but having some idea of what to look for would be nice.
  24. Good Laugh, but total BS.
  25. When I worked in a Logging crew,we we working late and as the new boy one of the crew come up to me and tells me to do a sly Oil Change on his Landcruiser. So I dug a wee hole, drained the Sump into it,fited a new filter and went into the Container Truck,Pumped out a Jug of "Delvac HXP" and sorted. On the way back in the Wagon he tells his mate about the Oil Change. "What Delvac?" Asks his mate "Its in the Container" sayes Chas "No thats Bar Lube" replies his mate. *Guys face turns white* Turns out the Fluid Truck filled an empty Diesel Oil Drum with Bar lube.Everyone knew this except me and Chas.So Landcruiser Engines get from Kiangaroa Forest to Taupo using Bar Lube without problems and its always wise to spread the word or use correct lables.
