  1. Call every Tree firm in the Auckland Yellow Pages?
  2. Tractor Tyres got a wash!
  3. I worked for Citycare for a few months between stints in the States.Like anywhere it had its good points and its bad. The Company took over the Councils jobs in many area's,there are Tree Teams,Waterways Teams,Carpenters etc. You would be part of a big unit. If you are used to working in a big Company or "Council like" enviroment, this job could well be for you.
  4. Quote it at 25% of your daily production target.Or tell them it will cost less if they can wait untill you have another job in the area.
  5. I am sorry to hear about the theft. I had a chipper solen a couple of years ago, previously almost all my saws were nicked. The chipper was in the yard being repaired,I had taken the hitch and chute off it,the lower bearing for the Feed roller was removed and the yard was thick with fresh gravel. It looked like several guys had pushed the machine to where a Hiab could lift it. The Poice said it was probably in Poland within 24 hours.Alot of Farm equipment that is stolen ends up there.
  6. Try slowing the infeed rate down.I think the rollers are spinning on the brush as it gets choaked entering the feed throat. The slower infeed rate will get balanced out by you not having to dig bits out. I chip a fair bit of Spruce, its tempting to run the rollers at full speed.I think it works out faster running them at 75% or less.
  7. No worries. I forgot to add, when you have the shaft out and upright on the Bench, spin the bearing block around quickly and hear if its noisy. If it sounds rough, replace the bearings.
  8. Its very likely that there are small stringy twigs wrapped around the Top Feed roller.Or there is a buildup of crap under the bottom roller. Or its the Bearing on the Top (less likely) Or the roll pin holding the Yoke to the Shaft has broken and the top roller is rubbing the inside of the feed "throat" (unlikely) Open the Disc cover, measure how much the bolts inside the Spings protrude above the locking nuts (you need to wind then back to this measurement or a bit more when you re-assemble) Take off the nuts holding the Springs, lift the arm up,lift the feed roller up and disconnect from the Stub protruding from the Gearbox. Clean out the area where the top feed roller sits and have a look on the inside of the feed throat, see that its not "chewed up". Sit the feed roller on a bench upright with the shaft sticking up in the air and see if you have much movement side to side in the bearing block thats mounted on the shaft.A little bit is normal, maybe 1mm each way.If its sloppy you need new bearings.(a diy job,the bearings cost me £30). good luck with it and if you need any help, ask again.
  9. That would look cool.Just stay away from the Stamp(s).I cleaned one up recently with a Wire Wheel on a disc Grinder.I wore a Welding Helmet as wires came off the Wheel.
  10. Is it a "Battle of the Mullets"?
  11. Looks sharp mate!
  12. Check the PTO electrical connection?
  13. Go then. Otherwise you will always wonder...
  14. Its missing its Hood, you might find it lying about the Shed somewhere? The hood cover's the Engine.
  15. Looks good to me.I see a good job made out of a less than favourable situation.Thats as much as anyone can ask for.
  16. I think the growing conditions are favorable. Recently a guy was killed close to Bergen when felling a Tree. The Tree sat back on his saw and off he went to get some rope.Sadly the Wind my have pushed it over when he was walking away,it struck and killed him.
  17. They still use them back home in really sandy conditions, like on skid sites in Coastal forests. The Sand in the Bark is bad enough, but it wears out the Tip Bearings quickly. Try running the chain a bit slacker than normal, winding the oiler up and tipping some bar lube over the Bar and Chain if it really heats up.
  18. Rachel Nordtømme:Norwegian Track and field Godess.
  19. Here is a Forum for Brittish Expats Moving back to the UK : British Expat Discussion Forum
  20. I can't beleive people are complaining about a public works project worth Billions of Pounds. This has come at the best time possible. Companies who win the contracts will have to expand at all levels and this will create jobs, injecting money into a stagnant economy. Projects like this are exactly what the UK needs.
  21. There was one Jagd Terrier, a Beagle, and the other Dogs looked like Large Dachsunds. There were Pigs about, but no one Shot one.Saw a Moose but it we couldnt shoot them in that area,it was to far away anyway.
  22. Wow! Thats magnificent!
  23. None Matty.I just found it blown down in the Forest. At a guess,it would take a Box of Slugs to Fell a Tree. I feel an experiment coming on....
  24. Nah its a 12g.Sweden still sells paper Cartridges,I thought that was novel so I bought some.Propper retro.
