Shaft wind up is when the torque of driving in 4 means the cogs or dog clutch are still meshed due to pressure. That is why the book says to get a couple of wheels on a loose surface and maybe rock the truck too and fro to "unwind" the pressure and out it pops!
  7. 13mm = half inch, 17mm = 5/8ths, 19mm = 3/4 or close enough! I found a set of metric a/f on eBay by Mac. But to be honest, Halfords professional are quality!

If you have any queries regarding the above, please contact GreenMech on 01789 400044.
  9. Some belts there, Jeremy!
  10. I bet they come at a chunk of a price! These emissions regs are proving quite awkward with things like the 1505 kubota engine disappearing as well as a few others meanjng a sub 750kg chipper with 30odd hp diesel isn't going to be easy.

Damn me but another one of our Rangers lost oil pressure without warning and is in the garage! Doubt if we will bother with them again

Officially, the warranty runs out at 2 years or 60k miles. We had four of the 2.2/4pot things and a 3.2/5pot. The 3.2 had a dual mass at 35k under warranty not long back. I've not had good experience of the supplying garage although my little local Ford place are spot on!

GreenMech got five of the latest model Rangers some 30 months ago and the two with the biggest miles have engine issues coming from poor oil pressure. Mines in for a new engine at 109k miles and the other was diagnosed by the AA as possibly bad too!
  15. If ought goes wrong with your internet purchase, how do you return it? I would prefer to support local businesses as they might also support me when I need them. Plus, they are after making a profit, same as me and have higher overheads than a black store. Yes, it might seem dear but he has it in stock and you area away and busy again.
  16. Are Mould and Bloomer still going in Bottesford near Grantham?
  17. Out of interest Eddie, how much mark up is there on boots and clothes?
  18. Hmm, not too far from me! Good luck for the future.
  19. GreenMech's powder coaters have shot blasted and powder coated a number of makes for various people. Try ringing them, they are called ShoPaint and are on the same site as us at B49 5QG.
  20. A 1523 had the top roller mounted in/on a couple of bearings which are housed in the swinging arm. If one of these is collapsing or the shaft is grooved where the bearing sits, it may sag. The danger is that it could damage the roller motor. The swinging arm pivots in an oilite bush which is greased, if that wears, the pivot arm does sag, removal and replacement of the bush is easy. Grab the arm to check for worn bush, if it doesn't move, lie in the indeed and using a lever, check for play in the roller shaft/bearings. A new roller and bearings are do able but cost. Phone your local GreenMech dealer for a cost.
  21. Yesterday, during a break in our Sales Meeting, we presented Mac with a framed picture of a vintage car taking the Top 'S' at Shelsey Walsh as a small token of our appreciation. Mac leaves at the end of the week after some 40 years working at GreenMech and Turner World Mowers and Bomford Turner. Mac will be working in his garages on his old cars and taking them up Shelsey Walsh as he has been doing in his spare time since 1964. Very best wishes for the future Mac and thanks for all that you have done.
  22. what model is it? They didn't originally, so something has worn a tad.

    Jokes???

Like them, I'll change that to over 50 too.
  24. The pile of dust underneath is because we put a drain hole there. It does let water out as well as dust. Some years ago, in a bloody cold wet winter, we had a number of chippers freeze up with water in the chamber, they wouldn't turn over and since then, we fitted drain holes. On horizontal roller machines, there are two there too.
  25. Hi Brett, call the office tomorrow when you are stood by the machine. Press the button to be put through to Service and either Mac or Jason will talk you through it. Cheers.
