  1. Sounds worrying to stall the pump to get belts smoking!?! The hydraulic circuit should have a blow off/safety valve that would not allow the pump to do this! Is the return filter clean and oil in good nick?
  2. We took two off our QuadChip when we made it easier to get to the nipples. Cannot see the point of remotes when access to bearing is good enough to go direct!
  3. Paint the drive red!
  4. Give GreenMech a call on 01789 400044 and talk to Jason! Off memory, if you are lucky, clean out the Allen headed bolts using a pointy thing through the blade holes, shock them with small punch/hammer then undo with an Allen key! If you are unlucky, remove rotor, puddle weld a nut to c/s bolt and und with spanner! Fit new bearings while rotor is out and ask to borrow the alignment tool if your hydraulic pump is mounted on the alloy housing.....
  5. Which are the shafts turning John? You may need a rotation changing gearbox ontoa layshaft with another pulley. Bit of fab work and maths......
  6. £175 the pair?
  7. Blimey! I was pro Isuzu after 264k miles with one for a GreenMech tow tug but now I'm not so sure! When they replace this Ranger, Ford will not be invited to the party either!
  8. What about your spot Jeremy? Your near too aren't you? How are things anyhow?
  9. I came across a chipper which needed new bearings for the second time this year. The independent mechanic fitted new bearings on an old shaft which he knew was worn to save costs and has it back again for another set of bearings and a shaft! He went and got a price for a complete new rotor instead of asking for a new shaft or having the existing one built up and re profiled!
  10. Ring Salcey and Cleartrack, just north of MK but close enough. I'll see if the office have a number for MK Parks, or whoever is doing the trees nowadays and send you a txt Kev.
  11. Cannot the old unit be remanufactured? Copied?
  12. Works for me!
  13. Overloading again Pete!?!
  14. Bugger! The 170 was also fitted with 4LE1 Isuzu as fitted to the 220. Okay, some mods, pulleys etc. But, crikey, did it go with that!
  15. Bandit 65?
  16. Is it a flexible plate machine or one with the alloy bell housing and a solid shaft? Even then, I have seen one of those break too. Wise words though, check it out and confirm!
  17. We have fitted several tracked units with RC for tracking - infeed us just a variation. Cost of valves and remote unit can be high though.
  18. We usually stick on a buffet lunch with hot drinks or soft drinks available. The tours are about engineering and building not necessarily "Bang Bang Bang, buy GreenMech!"
  19. Interesting turn of events. I get the car back and within a few days, a warning light comes on! I photograph the dash to show the light and mileage and involve the garage. They admit that some head scratching is going on but say that they will send the injectors away to be tested. They went quiet when asked if the new engine had injectors or they fitted those out of the dead engine, they also went quite when we suggested that we read the report on the stripdown of the knackered engine and what caused it to sieze. It is back with them and I'm in the spare again.
  20. Thanks for the apology. GreenMech/Turner Engineering built or looked at building various hege cutting flails, including pedestrian units, grass cutting equipment, four wheeler utility vehicles, small aircraft movers, disabled vehicles amongst other things for 30 years before concentrating on woodchippers in GreenMech. They have exported things worldwide and still do now with interests in Germany, France, Czech Republic, Malaysia, dealers that cover many different countries too! In fact, we are Europe's largest manufacturer of woodchippers. We have always said that we are a customer lead company, in that, if you have an idea for a machine that will sell in enough numbers, we would look to building it! We see the factory in Alcester as a blacksmith shop which makes woodchippers at the moment. But it could be something else. Another factory tour event is being considered for early next year for those who are interested.
  21. What on earth gives you the idea that that is how we started? That is fairly far from the truth! The Turner family had in manufacturing for some 30 years prior to starting GreenMech so they do know what they were doing!
  22. Welcome to the Wee Chipper Club! There are some right good tips available if you trawl that thread. Or give me a call next week on 07774 282481
  23. Everything has a place in the market. This is just another rebranded product brought to market with Hyundai colours and brand. They doing it a lot at the moment with generators, compressors, saws, and all manner of stuff, not made or touched by Hyundai in any way. This is cheap, would get you out of a spot, would be as hard work as any other small grinder and as long as the buyer takes that into consideration, would sit in the shed and occasionally be useful.
  24. Love the description!!! However, never touch the long screw bolt thingy on draw bar! Never mess with the linkage unless new shoes/drums/cables have been fitted!
