  1. Close, its inch lbs. If you haven't got the right torque wrench it's not a lot, probably 'barely nipped up with a t bar' would be more than you need. Not helpful really, but 30in lbs is 2.5ft lbs.
  2. I am on my third little chipper, with a total of over 300hours across the machines. Got a Jo Beau m400 now which is really good btw. I find that they always run better if the anvil, knife gap is tiny. I use a piece of laminated paper or a business card. A debit card sized gap seems huge to me and I doubt it would chip better with more gap. Although I know nothing of the CS100, so that could be wrong.
  3. Can you just grind them where they are now? I've had the same thing and just ground them on the floor in a pile. Not the neatest job ever but I sure as hell wasn't taking them off site.
  4. Fully agree with this. If you are near the limit and start cutting and holding they constantly block the controls and beep all the time. Then you have to restart, its a pain. They are so cheap so hire it is not a big cost, especially on a months work. Also, if you are working off road with a site picker and get it stuck you are in big trouble, they are very heavy and pigs to move when they belly out.
  5. Whilst you would assume the repo men would be round this is not always the case. I you were to take the chipper back to Redwood and notify the finance company you are going to cancel the direct debits they will more than likely try and help you. Think of it like a credit card company refunding the money from a duff item or a supplier that had gone bust with your deposit. I know of several occasions this has happened (only with cars and vans) and it has always worked out in favour of the owner. Not the dealer. If you tell them the machine breaking is causing so much grief and financial issue you are struggling make payments, sob story about the kids eating beans on toast every meal etc etc they will probably help you out. Thing is, they want there money back and if you cant or won't pay they are going to make sure someone will. I would say make very sure you are in the right and have a strong paper trail to back up time spent off the road, in for repairs and bills for all the hire machines etc.
  6. Removal is the best solution, the problem is the ECU has the be changed to block the DPF. If you ever have an issue with the car and it goes back to VW or they service it they reset the ECU for updates etc. Easy enough if you live 5 mins from the person that mapped it. However some cars wont even drive with factory settings once its done. I looked at having mine done (one guy is getting a comfortable 220bhp out of a 2.0 twin turbo). For me the issues outweighed benefits. Also, I'm pretty sure you would lose the warranty if they found out. Once the car is out of warranty it will be a brilliant idea.
  7. VOX AC15H1TV guitar amplifiers*50th Anniversary 1957-2007 Hand-Wired Heritage 603384053961 | eBay I had one of these for a while, would love an original. She had to be sold though because it was so loud to get it anywhere near breaking up. Really wanted to be in a booth, shame as it sounded nice. I've had a Jackson ampworks Britain for about 3 years now and believe they are a lovely Head and cab. Much nicer sounding at lower (Sensible) volumes and they are stunning when turned up, in my opinion just as nice as early Vox's. + they are hand built and the quality is fantastic. EDIT: realised that doesn't help your question. Having played other modern Vox combos and head and cabs I would not bother. They are nothing special. If you want something a bit different and within budget try one of these Swart 6V6 US Made Hand Wired Guitar Amp With Attenuator | eBay They are very cool.
  8. Just read this again and i'm pretty sure that's illegal. When you buy something your contract is with the supplier, not the manufacturer. It is the suppliers responsibility to deal with the complaint and then re claim the cost from the manufacturer. Just found this, the most pertinent bit I've pasted below. How to get a faulty product replaced or repaired - Which? "TOP TIPS Contact the retailer - your contract is with the retailer and not the manufacturer Cite your rights under the Consumer Rights Act Don’t be fobbed off - you can always take the retailer to the small claims court"
  9. Well, all I can say his looked brand new. I asked if he had just bought it and he said it was the third one that had been replaced under warranty. No questions. Maybe the policy varies store to store.
  10. Not sure if you are trolling me mr logs or just asking stupid questions. Just over 8m2 x 300kg per cube = 2500kg + the trailer, including mesh and paneling probably 1300-1400 but im not 100% sure = 3800kg/3900kg Gross. More if its logs, certainly feels heavier full of logs I tow it with the truck in the photo. If I bought a 14ft the extra 2 m2 would take it to 10m2 + the extra weight of the trailer would equal about 4.5ton full of chip. By my rough calculations anyway
  11. Ive got three of the wilkinson sword (branded Fiskars) ones in the shed all dead. They are great but its very easy to bite off more than it can chew and bugger it. I also use if for the little odd annoying bits on conifer hedge reductions as its a lot lighter than a hedge cutter. Still got one working but I should be able to make my dead three into one good one. Little tip, a customer of mine recently told me he buys his from b and q or homebase or similar and they come with a lifetime warranty, when his breaks he takes it back in and they give him another brand new one. He pays £70-80 instead of the £35 I pay from the wholesaler but his method is a lot cheaper in the long run. Next time I need one it will be from there.
  12. Hi, I live about 10 miles from the Brian James factory in Daventry so I bought it direct from them. Mine is a 12ft, twin axle single ram tipper. It has never struggled to tip anything I've had on and I once got a local aggregate supplier to put 3.5tons of gravel on there (before they stopped letting you out overloaded) I had a tri axle 14ft Ifor with a crane on about 5 years ago and yes the tri axles tow nicely. Whether you want or need to extra stability depends on the tow vehicle. The decrease in payload may be 100kg on so. That wouldn't really matter as with a full load of chip or logs you are already over weight and I don't think the fine would dramatically increase with an extra 100kg. If I bought a 14ft tipper I would go tri axle though as you would be regularly at 4.5ton with a full load of chip and the extra stability and braking would make it safer.
  13. To say its better would be an understatement. Massively better is more like it. Also yes, she regularly weighs 4ton plus. Only off road though
  14. Nice one, I always thought its a bit of a sell out working for the council. Over worked and under paid, standard proceedings. Text me if you are after some work, got some nice stuff in the pipeline I could do with a hand on.
  15. Yep, all the toys 8 speed auto, nav, leather, heated seats etc etc
  16. Just under three years, It is very good 0 issues other than I have to charge to battery every couple of weeks. Yes, I will have another. Look at the picture again and see what a 50.000 mile + Brian james looks like. Bear in mind I am owner driver and the only person ever to tow that trailer. However it is loaded with logs, chip, brash, rakings and heavy machines(for a 3500kg tipper trailer) every day. It is rarely legal when leaving site with a load on and tows luuuurvely. Also my Uncle has three new ifors, all plant trailers and they are terrible. The quality is shocking. I've seen better steel used for making kids toys. All well and good talking about resale on ifors, but I bought my trailer to earn money every day and not fall to bits. Don't care even slightly about re sale.
  17. Yeah VW, had it a while now. Pulls that trailer every day.
  18. Yes, shes racking up the hours now and had a few mods since you last saw her. Hows it going? I hope the council hasn't made you lazy
  19. At 8m2 mine is fairly heavy when full of chip. Got someone to panel the sides for me, cost about £250-300 and I have some spare aluminium. https://goo.gl/photos/W4FF9H5qbpCarFug9 You'll have to click the link. Imageshack now wants money off me.
  20. Similar story, 15 plate Discovery 4 pulls out on me round some parked cars. Expects me to stop almost instantly but the trailer is fully loaded with chip. Of course I carry on as normal and smash his wing mirror off with the mesh sides on the trailer. I could see the look of fear in his eyes as the trailer was approaching his new toy. Bit of amusement, brightened my day. Sad thing is he probably bullys people all the time on the roads. Maybe when the bill from Land Rover comes through he'll think twice.
  21. Speak to Global recycling parts department or Industrial Belts Supplier UK | Beeline Engineering They have almost everything on the shelf, if not a couple of days. They had an awkward size polychain in stock that no one else I rung could even identify, will also cut to the size required.
  22. Got a vw and I just push the button to turn it off every time I get in, next time its being serviced I will get them to remove it completely. Its towing 95% of the time and I hate the thought of a hot turbo being switched off and running dry.
  23. You cant have two bad ones. There is a knack to starting them, cold or hot. They are excellent saws. Despite my 560 going in a pond at idle about 2 months ago it still makes excellent power and it will have had 250+ tanks since I bought it a year or so ago. I am waiting for it to die so I can buy another one. But she keeps going.
  24. Nice video, that tree looked a choad. I hope they are not clearing it up by hand?
  25. Depends on how good you are. Flats are the way forward for learning to ride anything technical and because they are fun. Clips allow you to cheat your body position and weight and are best if getting down as fast as possible is the end result. I have been saved by clips on several occasion where the bike has been out of control going very quickly and the only reason i've stayed on is being clipped in. For technical up hill clips are loads easier. IMO clips for race day, flats for anything else.
