  1. They were pine back before the stratocaster was made. Leo Fender started making all of his guitars out of pine. Might be worth a try especially as vintage detail and reproduction is all the rage. Please post photos, I would like to see what you make.
  2. Customer of mine has a nest about 100yards downhill of his house in the top of a dead oak tree and you can watch them from the conservatory. The same ones (tagged) have been back to the same tree for 5 years or so. They are awesome birds, so big when you see them up close. They feed off a couple of the local lakes/ponds and the fly fisherman get a good look at them when they hunt.
  3. I think you may be worrying to much, Its only a poxy £500 tree (or £250 as the case may be!) The key is charge for the TPO app, which I do if I don't trust the customer and ask on the phone how many quotes they've had. Whats the point in driving all over the county chasing crap jobs! You'll only be disappointed when someones cheaper, if they have 3-5 quotes then someone will always be cheaper. If they want to use someone else let them crack on. You can always de-register for VAT. I would never go back though even if turnover did drop off.
  4. I cant understand why anyone uses Husky or Stihl oils at all. After using Exol Optima synthetic oil for mx bikes and go karts, which is a much better quality lubricant and cost less (if you buy in in 20l tubs). A couple of my saws and hedge cutters have serious amounts of hours on them and Ive never had any issues that can be fuel related.
  5. If you are towing and laden I don't think it would make much odds. The wheels will sink pretty quickly and you'll be stuck 2wd or 4wd. For the money of a 4x4 canter ( I assume you are buying new, i've never seen a second hand one) you could get a 13-18ton 4x4 MAN or Merc with a proper crane on it and much better rubber for the mud.
  6. No worries. Hes been involved in asset finance for 30+ years so isn't normally wrong BTW next time tell them to waive the Yearly fee. Dad never adds it on to his customers.
  7. Just asked my dad, he says its likely to be an annual admin fee which. Will show on your documents.
  8. Coming down 50+ft for a cup of tea and not worrying about the ascent tiring you is pretty cool. Made a big difference to how i feel about climbing now. give it a go.
  9. Thanks for the detailed response. Nice to see the AA taking a sensible stance on the subject. I do not risk assess ski holidays. Injuries per hour on the slopes I expect would be horrible! You are of course correct that if you own and run a cherry picker day to day i'm sure it is a very useful tool and really makes the job run faster in certain situations. I suppose I get annoyed hearing "Its to dangerous to climb, you'll need a picker". I've yet to ever see a justification for a mewp other than in some situations its a lot faster, which obviously = more profit. Quite fancy a 14m on a landrover for hedge topping and cutting which would definitely speed the process up.
  10. This is very confusing. Mewps fall over and fail as well. Anyone got any data they are actually safer over all. Considering they will be used for about 0.000000001% of the time at height across the whole of the uk when undertaking aerial tree work. Out of interest, what would the ARB approval contractor status tell you about their decision whether to use a MEWP or not? I love it when the client explains how the "the other guy/contractor says he will use a cherry picker" 3 days a year not using a mewp when you've priced for one is at least the ski holiday covered.
  11. Its a mini. But producing 27hp which will be more than that Volvo excavator. Just not sure it will run it effectively as the pump setups may be different between the skid and the digger. Would make it expensive to run if I had to hire a 3 or 5 ton digger every time I wanted to use it!
  12. That looks really good. Any idea what the actual flow rate is on the Volvo? Wondering if i could fit one to my skid steer. The manual says 51lpm. But i'm not sure if the hi flow auxiliary will be man enough. Thanks
  13. If you buy a bandit you get a free pressure tester, every little helps I'd just wind it up till it doesn't jam then use it, then wind up until until it doesn't happen very often. She'll be reet
  14. I'm 99% sure that's Borat footage on VHS.
  15. You can hear it blowing off back to the tank in the video on your facebook. Hydraulic pressure relief is set wrong.
  16. Wireless Remote Controlled Tracked Stump Grinding Machine - Bailey Forestry Engineering Anything is possible. I wish id have bought this when it was up for sale. Not seen it running but the spec was pretty good for a homebuild
  17. Fair enough, they must be seizing on to need that kind of torque to undo. I use a 3ft breaker to crack the nuts on my chipper and then take them off from the bolt side with the rattle gun. Stupidly they have an allen key on the bolt side with easy access and a 1/16th nut on the side you can only just squeeze a swivel head breaker bar into.
  18. Could it be as simple as the pulleys are worn and knackering the new belts each time?
  19. You could buy a really nice 18v impact driver for the same kind of money which would have them off just as easily. Unless they need nearly 3000nm of torque to undo.
  20. My 75 will fill a mwb canter single cab body in about 20 mins on conifer. I would guess you could halve that for a 90 if you can keep up with it. A 90 is a big machine, I think they are 14ft+ long and you might as well get a 990 if you are gonna go big, they are not any bigger or really more expensive. IIRC last time I spoke to dean, you can get a 1390HD and still come under the 3.5 ton tow. Winching in whole 15inch trees would be pretty cool. [ame= ] [/ame]
  21. Yeah, I can get that or the chipper in the trailer. The skid steer and the grinder fit together but that's only a tiny HB20
  22. Cheers, I want some forks and if they are good with large rounds that's a bonus. Will make some calls tomorrow.
  23. Mine get used as a mobile phone charger, drinks holder, brush and mobile traffic calmer. The fact it lifts wood is also a bonus. I've just started on this instagram thing for some photos of it https://www.instagram.com/treeworx1/
  24. Yeah, the triangular tracks on mine give it away. Should have noticed yours is the older model. How many hours have you got? Do you prefer pallet forks for larger timber?
  25. Have a look on Instagram. Quite a few people on there with them working trees. Pretty sure my 725 is 35 inches wide. You've got me wondering now. I thought the 800 was 41inch and the 725 35inch
