  1. Is that your mod on the 395 exhaust Steve?? I found after you did the timing mod that really gave it a kick to get the best out the port work.
  2. Depends how much you need it , I run a hobbs type device and find it more than adequate for pretensioning and lifting when needed ,the stein looks good I've only seen it briefly working with reg's demo's at the APF and its lifting ability was impressive ,it was fast lifting on short lifts and imagine would do the job of pretensioning well but obviously it's sacrificed by having to reset the pull on long lifts... Grcs is the Rolls Royce and comes with the price tag. Carbon geckos for me, never tried the kiwis though.
  3. I have seen plenty of young infected trees and newly planted trees with it but nothing with my own eyes or in photos of it on British mature trees... Maybe this too me seems because infected trees came as already infected root stock from non british seed banks and nurseries and possibly our native trees are immune. I would also think that possibly because of its presence on the continent long ago and the traffic of large lorries with there possibility of spreading spores very quickly across the Chanel the disease would of showed up on mass at the same time as it did on the continent so I'm living in great hope our native trees have a higher immunity to the disease... Still I would love to see pics of british mature ash with the disease, I thought I had come across it a number of times in the past but was proven wrong.
  4. Unfortunately the problem lies in what people see or deal with first hand ,the worse violence and crimes varying from drug dealing to theft seem to be carried out by ... At best can be described as ethnic minority's so you can't really blame people for having an opinion... I read an interesting article about an Iranian doctor who's daughter was beside her self that he voted for ukip because as a doctor in a hospital he could see first hand health tourism and was disgusted the way other migrants came to the UK and refused to integrate in to our society which was some thing he made very clear bringing his children up was important, I think he had some very valid points.
  5. Maybe the polish guys dad flew fighters in 303 squadron in the Battle of Britain or helped take Tobruk or monte Cassino , close the falais pocket or was dropped in operation market garden and felt some loyalty to help his british cousins because they all would not be a free country to vote in today with out the past efforts of his fellow country men.
  6. Deafening .... Really I don't think they are that bad compared to some exhaust mods heard but you can tell it's been done , but the typical 560 loud high pitch note in the high revs almost stays the same I think.
  7. Nice work.. Will be interesting to see what the first tree does over the next few years.
  8. Would never thin a reduction especially a heavy one on a mature broadleaf that's just come out in leaf, with out trying to have a dig at your work I would be very surprised if it gets over that.
  9. I could never get more than a year out of the husky 262's in the 90's ...I got two years out my last 560
  10. You can keep your 200t's and any other saw which will give you arthritis quicker, as for the new makitas I used one of there new 50cc saws last week and its a cracking little saw. Wish I'd never touched a 4 mix Stihl though!
  11. Never went back as it seems to have rained continually in any spare time I've had and getting it involves driving across a lawn on a steep slope... Just waiting for it to dry out s bit and hopefully it is still there.
  12. Cris let me know if you get any spare
  13. You need a Bren gun carrier to transport the monkey winch... It's a beast though.
  14. Drop down to 8mm cord and it won't slip !! , New England fly and a 4/3 VT combo on a piece of 50cm from eye to eye 8mm friction cord was my favourite working combo for a long time..and it's not as harsh as some of the smaller diameter ropes.
  15. 361 was rated as one of the best saws out there, I always preferred the 357 though but a good clean saw is worth keeping or should go for decent money.
  16. Yep the trapeze is dog shite, if it's not clipping in to the other side of your line and making retrieval impossible and brakes or does what's happened to your self and the replacement is nearly £50 from honeys... If it's just the bolt you should get one from a fasteners or use a cable tie as a temporary holding. The annoying thing is my previous rope guide was over 5 years old and never did the retrieval clip that screwed in let me down, but I've gone through two trapezes in ten months and I know others who have broken them as well in this time and at around £45 with vat and postage its a joke.
  17. I would like to see them try it though, we have over 250 square miles of forest at keilder the national park across the Pennine way and otterburn ranges I think there's enough room to try... Northumberland is the last true wilderness of England and not quite full of tourists and ramblers yet unless you walk hadrians wall ,Although a lot of sheep to eat as well but there's not to many in the forest and plenty of deer I keep hitting them !
  18. Zermatts I rate Currently on Andrews and switching back to the zermatts for big pine, spruce and fir strip downs as I don't find the soles on the Andrews are comfy enough for prolonged time on straight poles with spikes, they are a little too soft , but nice boots other wise.

    Stihl ms 201

Have they beefed up the handle ?
  20. Because the 460 was there greatest saw and for once stihl possibly listened that a lot of people didn't want mTronic on its replacement.. Although I'm sure it will come eventually. Husky have the 372 and 576 the stats are about the same as the 440 /460 441 /461 I suppose they all fill a niche for some one, although I've always found the 440's and 372's just slightly lacking so can see the appeal of the larger ones but others swear by them and say they are too heavy.0
  21. How you getting on with the 461 Jonny ,Is it as smooth as the 576 you had ?
  22. Ms461 6.7kg 4.4kw 76.5cc £739.20 with 20" although this will handle a 25" no problem. Ms441cm 6.6kg 4.1kw 70.7cc £726 with 20" bar and it looks like only the cm version is available,I'd be drawn to the 461 definitely.
