I'm seeing more and more veteran trees getting felled up here , the tree officers seem to encourage it for safety ... Another tragedy is seeing ancient pasture getting ploughed for grazing , one estate seems to manage another Feild every year.

Really like that idea Andrew , may mesh the front but the weather gets pretty wild up here. Hey nick ,it will be from the river side it ended up half the size than when we first looked at it and layed the slabs for , I put the half up and realised I would still need double the timber that I had milled I want to save the last few logs of dry Douglas I have for the floor boards in the house... Did you have enough larch boards ?

Another thing is just undermine the COG and get huge chogs on the ground nice and easy barely no effort.. If your going to go big rigging it will help as well.

Sounds a good idea , I've noticed that in the log drying sheds we use that are Yorkshire clad but with logs they do get wet but lots of air flow is important as well with them. With boards I suppose you want it a lot more stable... I guess open to the elements is not going to help either! How will you achieve a 10mm gap Andrew on the vertical boards? I think having a gap around the bottom will help also when it floods it won't create so much drag on the building.

That looks nice ! Loads of dry space for sure , mines more of a hobby than a full size industrial effort.. But would like it to do a good job of the timber and not mouldy or dry to fast, biggest problem is that area floods so the racks will have to start 2 -3ft from the ground

Mine was a replacement for a 372 that was nothing but a pita since day one , it's a very smooth saw with very low anti vibes can't say I notice the weight at all and it's a lot lighter than the 395.. I would like a gen 2 auto tune 70cc but don't know how far away that is !

Have been constructing a shed to dry my milled timber in , this is how far I have got ... I plan on putting an oak shingle roof on as it's free and won't cook like tin ,we busted up half a forwarding trailer of the most straightest oak I could find off the fire wood heap so hopefully have enough! My question is how would you construct the sides? Would you leave the front open ? I plan on boarding up the west and east sides and using spaced York boards for the long side and have half of the front open... So York or closed boards and what positions would you use to get a consistent drying atmosphere ?

The Stihl chisel from memory was what was on at that time Dan... Tend not to use any thing else on my bigger toppers.

Couple from today , the oak had a back lean towards lots of buildings so needed stripping out which took me most of the day , the lime had two thirds of its crown blow out and was deemed knackered, Like me by the end of the today !

Yes it's just a fashion statement that I don't like being stuck up to my axles and having to leave a truck for the night at the back of some Wild West housing estate when I've tried to cross some grass and needed a recovery winch to get the transit and chipper out.. Or I like to make work by dragging brash and logs for miles because you can't take a transit on any thing other than asphalt.

Most vans get stuck on flat grass.... I've got transits stuck on football pitches lawns, you can certainly forget about woodland rides in any thing other than the height of a dry summer.

Don't agree with most of the comments.......it's just the price you pay for having a small tip on a bar is that that it will wear very fast.. I would say a solid tip wears even faster on a carving bar than one with a sprocket as well, I've ran both genuine Stihl carving and sprocket on 150 the solid rate of wear was frightening! So took it off , it also sapped power.

Some SRT reductions on smallish trees today 20%ash 35% on cherry and a walnut. Problem with this SRT stuff Is I think I'm getting out of shape as it's making it all to easy ,Monday and Tuesday on spikes with big saws I could feel it trying to clamber about today !

I know of a member on here who had one and didn't say many kind things about it, I'm surprised he has not commented all ready on the thread but the long and short of it was it broke down lots... And for the money I think he was glad when he waved it good bye.
