  1. It's not really justifiable or rational but having your life wrecked repeatedly by thefts and attempted thefts and the police not really giving a toss .. I don't feel there's much of an option. Have you ever been repeatedly targeted by thieves TCD ?
  2. If you were desperate and came to me I would try and help you out best I could and I believe most would , you come to me and rob me I'll shoot you ,in fact blaming other people for your short comings instead of getting off your arse and doing some thing to help your family it's sounds like they basically need shooting any way , since my time in tree work I've had 3 chippers stolen and about 30ks worth of climbing kit and saws I've had enough next time there will be deaths.
  3. I would do it right now unless it's starting to swell it's buds already or try and time it before its second flush in the summer... Which virtually may prove to be impossible to time but don't prune if there is a drought! . 2 meters sounds a very sensible spec for that tree, and as Sean says don't damage or try and thin the crown in any way.
  4. Spot on John, sums it up for me. I've had more money's worth of gear stolen under labour so see no pattern in which governments in power at all.
  5. Vespasian I have never taken or demanded a fee , if they are good horticulturalist know there job or a good hard landscaper I recommend them , I gave away enough work to probably keep three guys on full time and found the doors open both ways , if people are good they are always busy. If I see you in the pub I would buy you a drink and so would they ... I would rather be an expert in a Feild i know than a jack of all master of none.maybe I'm a fool for not giving it a try but I would rather pride myself in doing what I know well and keeping the customer happy by sharing the services of others that do too.
  6. Side by side my first impression is of disappointment , the dmm is narrower by an just under an inch , I have been limited by the epple as on occasions as it's not been wide enough when I've dropped through to get in to a neighbouring tree and the only target presentable has been a wide branch. Will give it a climb tomorrow and see what it throws and retrieves like.
  7. Exactly ... To be fair you are going to meet a lot more people and work in a lot more gardens ... It's in there interest to help you , so on that I would not give them a penny.
  8. Agree... Although that would be too good for them.
  9. Crazy ..... That is one gnarly rose though, I would not of touched it with out a gypsy stick and some Ali rods with hook.
  10. Did you SRT the hell out of Steve?
  11. I'd hang on for a bit Husqvarna do read this forum so you may get a response.. The telephone contact is frustrating but at least it's not like the Stihl contact line which is patronising as well as frustrating... Also if you have damage to the cylinder I would be inclined to take that up with aspen as that should not be happening either.
  12. What's wrong with auto tune ? Total and absolute cutting power and torque at all times and conditions ? I've never had a 540 60 or 50 auto tune give me grief if any thing they have preserved a saw from detonation when there has been carb faults , the simple fact is some saw doctors can't cope with the few wires sticking out the side of a carb would say more about there ability than the saw when essentially it's the same principles as a normal 2 stroke I could be wrong here but I was told the cm series of stihls have the same auto tune version as the husky 576?
  13. There's always the wind mill.... Almost works perfectly every time ahem ..
  14. Try and point with your hands were you want it to go on release is another thing to remember. I find I'm more accurate and can get higher with a cradle throw, although it does look if your trying to hard

    Poorly trees

Look for some poplars they are usually riddled with hornet moth holes around the base and showing signs of decay and die back Hertfordshire way.
  16. It's more about the swing put in the bag that gives it momentum and not the throw... Just kind of watch and keep your eye on the target try not to aim and just visualise your bag hitting it and you should,I find the more I try and take aim the more I miss! There's always the big shot or APTA launcher if your shoulders are really bad though.. They do require some good aiming.
  17. Those little dmm carabiners are some thing I wash I'd brought a long time ago.
  18. They should be left to rot in prison they were all career criminals who made a living inflicting misery on others I find no humour in that at all
  19. Agree with the biggest crooks are in politics but it really annoys me when people give these scum some kind of respect .. People like the Krays yeah real nice people looked after there own ...killed them as well ,sold them drugs ,extorted money , put them in prostitution and robbed them... Sure I missed a few there as well.
  20. Should of got there hands cut off , just thieving scum got no time for thieves.
  21. TM feels like an old pair of slippers to me , on my second one now, I don't think until until owning one I've had a harness as comfy... Previously I was on the tree flex , tree Austria 2 , butterfly , comet and Willian's they all became like old friends eventually but gave me complaints to much pressure here or there. I did like the stein vega I've briefly tried though with no complaints.
  22. Decay may not be too bad, originally the tree looked as bad if not worse as the OPs picture, I think because the trees are young and vigour-is high the wounds compartmentalise really well but It is still is no substitute for proper formative pruning at a young age but it should give the tree a chance if a management plan is put in place to keep or replant and remove once it's replacement has established.
  23. Ha ha ,I always thought that as well Steve , that's why I took the photos and sent them to some of the contractors who might deal with it and told one of them to address that the tree does need pruning as every one else probably has no idea there is 2 rods holding that union together. The tree was supposed to of had a replacement planted that winter and felled around now but the council never did plant another , my guess is it will still fail again in the not far future the crowns getting big now.. Surprisingly usually Chestnut and metal don't react well , but it's completely callused over. No other bracing Jake, at the time it didn't need it... ironically it's one of the only aesculus in the area not to of been ravaged by bleeding canker.
  24. You could rod brace it ,did this about 12 years ago to this that was in a similar state It's about due a tip thin now.
  25. I don't like the idea much either but have never got it caught just found it the least restrictive , you don't even know it's there. The fluidity thing comes though but don't know if I will be as fluid as the VT and rope guide as we are older than when we got on that like .. Just a lot less knackered at the end of the day. Big swings ,There is another thing that is a lot easier on a single rope , I recon the future SRT climbers will be doing mad things , work climb records at comps will be smashed and some crazy videos !
