  1. I would send you some more saws to port mate , and not the junked ones either but you look too busy these days !
  2. I've had a 3120 and seized it but it was an original first released model .. 880 and 088 also and would pick up the 395 every time unless I want a 40" plus bar.
  3. I was working along side a fella the other day telling me the 150 was King for various reasons , whilst I was in to 20meters of my hedge with a 540 and he had just got past 5m with his 150 I could not really agree. Great saw for certain jobs for sure but no replacement for a full powered top handle.
  4. Same thing I thought.
  5. Any folks running a forwarding trailer off a quad? What would be the minimum engine requirements ?
  6. Good idea reg , I will try this but got to admit I have stopped using my New England wire core for the reason of failure as you said..some one did give me recently a load of those big old sweedish strops which I quite like for brashing out Sitka as they snap every twig out the way as they are so heavy !we get asked to do thinning of mature Sitka and it can be easier just to climb off a single point side strop for most of the tree than the carry on of trying to winch it out once hung up felling it especially if there is no space . Never liked or used those snap locks though.
  7. On our tw I noticed a disconnected wire, re connected it and no stress control stopped, most of the early timber wolfs and all entec machines may have been modified if they have had a new stress control fitted at any point since 2002, I can get a picture to show what wire to not reconnect if you notice it... Recently the machine was refurbed and the no stress was not working , I remembered the wire and problem solved. Maybe worth checking.
  8. Definitely the most satisfying part is watching pile of finished lumber grow for me, looks some lovely oak that.
  9. Spud ported and popped up 560, always handy for making a big mess quick.
  10. Any pics of the final product?
  11. Rubber boot from carb to engine splits but I would at a guess say it sounds like a broken clutch Spring . Does the saw stall when applying the chain brake.
  12. I was thinking the exact same thing and saw that crane on eBay , on your one in the photo is it mounted with legs ? Also how is it powered ? Our AGT has a front pto so was thinking this could be hooked up and the winch still used , we have mounted a tow bracket on the winch for the chipper which although does not have suitable tyres and will carve trenches in soft ground where the tractor won't it's handy, was thinking a light weight timber trailer would work well and the crane and winch still be used.
  13. Ok will disconnect the kill switch and wrap up that wire and give it a try.
  14. I did try two plugs and put a warm one from a 460 in to see , to be honest that was my thinking as well stubby , even turned the light off and can't see a thing.
  15. Steve should I be seeing a spark if the coil is working ? I can feel one but I'm pretty sure it should be a lot stronger and visually there!
  16. Sour grapes by some one who needs to get a life to me.
  17. Pulling a saw with less cc's over is easier ,Weight is another issue but one I don't think is a major.
  18. If your not a hairy arse tree worker I can see this been a good choice. My misses struggles with my 540 ,201 and 200's
  19. That's pretty much what I did tim , I did find a single hand ascender quite helpful at first to pull me around the tree as well as you can't body thrust .. The double hand is pretty quick as well and more ergonomic on long ascents but a lot more tiring than a haas
  20. What saws do you use ?
  21. This must be them ! Must admit I don't usually touch any thing unless I know what it does , I see wilsons did or do a forestry spec valtra with no electrics... Manual pto and gears which sounds good.
  22. Where's this mate? Can't find it in the manual ? It started working again when we came back to it the next day
  23. Which ever ones sharper... Can't beat a ported 560 with pop up though
  24. Same as you mark , I think some folks have no problems grasping it at all but I never abseiled or used a single line in my life and my whole career had been on a double rope system... It took a while, it's far from perfect in comparison to the flow I had with double ropes but I would not go back.
