  1. Horrible. My prayers are for his family tonight.
  2. Welcome dazlog. Maybe post your question as a new thread in the relevant forum and I'm sure you'll get some responses.
  3. Blimey, you guys are a bit harsh. I thought their website was ok.
  4. Very, very nice Reg. Thanks for posting that. The helmet-cam gives a great perspective - nicely edited together too.
  5. Good point! Maybe a few less cuts so saving on fuel!
  6. Blimey, calm down! Is that how Buzz caught your eye! I remember that video from the TH - nice one Ed.
  7. Wow, great pics! Nice job Reg and Nailer. I salute you!
  8. Cool, thanks alot. Like the clinometer in your link Arbocop - now that's a sensible price!
  9. Hi guys, I need to be able to accurately calculate tree heights for my Tech Cert exams and hopefully for reports after that! Don't fancy buying a clinometer for £100 or so as I am sure there are cheaper ways of measuring height. I remember in the past being shown various methods including holding sticks at arms length etc but can't remember them in detail. Those of you that do this - what is your recommended method? cheers, Paul
  10. Good tips here. I do seem to remember that for the CS31 test you are not allowed to use anything to mark/sight your back cut such as twigs or crayon - you are expected to be able to level the back cut by sight. However, these may help you to practise. Taking the 'ears' out (small cuts to the side of the gob) can help you orientate your back cut though and is quite legitimate for the assessment I think.
  11. Hi Hari, The little I know of this seems to me that they will be impressed with lots of Health and Safety guff. see ya later, Paul
  12. I heard that Robinia and Holm Oak are also on that list. Shame, I like them.
  13. Landmark Arborist supplies do it. Don't have a website though.
  14. Nice one Steve - got a better sense of the scale seeing your little self in it!
  15. Nice work on the willow Treemo.
  16. Never seen one in the flesh - I see that F R Jones sell them so maybe Jonesie will pipe up and give you some info. They look pretty skimpy!
  17. ha - I have been taught that one before! have you been taught by Andy Summerly?
  18. I saw a guy place his hand on his girlfriend's head as he walked under our tree. I'm sure that genteel gesture would have saved her life if a log had plummeted towards them.
