  1. Nice coronet cuts! Sorry, can't say I have yet experienced the pleasure of being covered with sooty fungal spores. One to look forward to I suppose...
  2. That has been done by a few contractor's in Bristol for a while now.
  3. Surely she would have noticed by now?
  4. I have used tenex for a few years now and really like it. As was mentioned before, it lies nice and flat against your rope so it's quite grippy (not too scary on a VT for a wuss like me) but it still self tends once you're at a half decent height.
  5. Yeah, what they said. Keep as much weight as you can on your rope and keep your knees slight bent - so that you are sitting back in your harness not getting pulled off the limb towards your anchor. Maybe it will help to focus on a point on the limb that has a nice foothold such as a fork, keep your eyes on it and just go for it. Keep one hand on your hitch and keep letting the slack out 'til you get there. That sounds pretty obvious but sometimes you just have to stop deliberating and go! It'll be easy soon!
  6. you might not say that if you were the one that got sliced!
  7. Naughty naughty, no visor..... ...but in all seriousness I have SO much respect for you guys in that video. Absolutely amazing and inspirational. Thanks for sharing it with us.
  8. Gutted to miss that. Will be there for saturday morning only. Nice one Nod.
  9. Aye, he sells alright! Good kit and good prices mostly - he's not the only one but he is a regular on Arbtalk which is nice.
  10. It's times like now that I am truly glad we got rid of our TV.
  11. Mmm, i think Jonesie has just got some massive karabiners.
  12. That truly sucks Andy. Sorry to hear about your loss. How long til you're sorted with a replacement? I am assuming it was insured.
  13. Wow, thanks Ed. They are amazing pics! Nice one RBTree!
  14. You must have thick wrists! Looked ok to me.
  15. Driving from Norwich to Bristol in the sheeting rain. Not that much fun but the weekend in Norwich (my old student town) was a right larf.
  16. thanks tokaloch. It seems to have the same webbing and buckle that goes round your front as the old butterflies/dragonflies - mine is always coming loose and slipping down which drive me nuts. may try one but the pictures don't look like much.
  17. Agree Chris - as Ganoderma is a heart rot specialist it will usually munch away at the centre of the tree and ultimately leave a hollow stem. Plenty of hollow trees are still standing perfectly well. I guess you could say that the tree in the photo could potentially go on for another 20 odd years - but once you know about a defect on a tree in a public place it is too risky to leave often.
  18. I have this t-shirt too! Mate of mine makes 'em.
  19. Interesting thread. I am a christian. I agree with some of what has been said about the negatives of 'organised religion' and the sad history of the church etc. Agree with you Jason when you say it should all be about the love.
  20. Wow, the missing link! Good climbing skills.
  21. Never knew that! I retract my previous statement.
  22. Similar here. Seriously regretted not taking some shorts to wear at lunch break and after the job. My new stretch airs aren't as cool as I had hoped. Shame no-one has devised a safe way of having zippable vents on the legs that you can open when not using a saw....
