  1. forgive the typos the batterys went on the cordless keyboard
  2. Okay guys as I see it , we have no obligation or enhanced status what so ever as a profession to dob people in .. What people choose to do with their trees so long as it is within the law is entirely their business However The local authority have an obligation to promote / protect the amenity of trees as laid down in the t&cp act, if they are errant in this then they are falling short of their obligations.. its the the LA's job to do it correctly, it is NOT ours to tell them when to apply it !!! this could lead to a professional conflict if a client pays for your assistance or advice/report as Tpo notice / appeal is processed. It beats me why Some trees are instantly TPo'd because theres a sniff of someone wanting to do something to or around it, if a tree as reached a state to which it contributes so much to amenity , the WHY OH WHY hasnt it been TPo'd before especially where it is outside of other restrictions/ protections ie conservation areas. I dislike the Emergency TPO , especially when the TO / LA are using it as a kicking tool to get one over on the owner. Trees dont just pop up overnight. If the trees meet the TPO criteria then they should have already been protected, Yes or NO ? this legislation has been around for quite some time now just my thoughts
  3. Not being funny mate but thats an awful lot of pegs your leaving there can i ask Why ? it seems as though your wearing spikes ! in my experience a peg is something to snag your gear on or even worse jab you if you gaff out
  4. make sure you get an experienced operator who can use comms to you, check your insurance cover with them, if it goes wrong who covers what , Cranes are expensive & you dont want to end up with it on its side, as if you exceed its lift capacity at sufficent distance etc

  9. cscs /site safety passport are construction trades indicator of training & also aimed toward H&S to reduce incidents on sites . our nptc/ city & guilds competancys are industry specific nvq2 & are therefore usually taken as better than those. ime its dependant on the main contractor risk manager as to what they will / wont accept, however if you inform them of the content inc risk/hazard awareness & management. some construction companys arent even aware of the existance of NPTC,
  10. to aid angle profile highlight the fileholder guide mark with a bullet point marker pen, so that it is easy to it keep straight, over the bar try to hook an arm over the saw so that you are looking along the bar rather than at right angle to it. other than that dont rush there is plenty of time , no extra points given if your the first finished , spend time reading the work book, work in an orderly manner ie sharpen first then clean the bar etc etc dont panic if you dont understand the question just ask the assessor to re phrase the question, if you forget something But remember it later during the assesment dont be afraid of tell the assessor . We know that its a nervous experience All the best & good luck Iain

  13. Good luck to him , I hope he can bring a younger more accepting view of the world, less about him & the politics more about the people hes there to serve. time will tell, tho not all ambitions will be possible, as I feel that Americas positon is somewhat entrenched.
  14. are you refering / looking at the core of decay there Dave ?
  15. I attended this 2 years ago & the preconception was ' I know about TPo's i've got the blue book ' ! however it came highly reccommended so I went. Dealga delivers the course & covers in depth more than the blue book info and a working knowledge of the system is paramount before you go, it opened the eyes of many there including the TO's who attended the preconception that Tpo s are sacred & untouchable once confirmed was laid bare the devil is in the detail gentlemen A Good course HOWEVER my major gripe is after two years & completing the assignment I am still awaiting the course certificate
  16. Agreed However the way in which the question was posed seemed somewhat vague to say the least or in another context , i've turned up at a train station & bought a train ticket & later decide to ask the conductor, WHERE WILL THIS TAKE ME:scared1: Fine for a day out but Imo ill advised, as an approach to career direction / choice
  17. try for government funding or offer to sign a loyalty agreement to ensure that you wont take the training & bugger off
  18. if YOU DONT KNOW it beats me why you are doing the course in the first place sorry but thats my comment !! & I agree with ED ....... looking through rosy glasses are fine but this is a niche market with loads of asperational motivators tonnes of newbies being packed into a small industry. I know of two companies that have folded this month alone All that said I commend anyone you aspires to DO more , to learn more ,or otherwise to advance I however think, that to blindly take a step into the dark is not well advised
  19. A well Signed up rig, does you a lot of good Imo & you only have to pay once
  20. I think this was on 4 if so its good for a laugh I saw this not too long back there was one bloke & dear me worried about organizing the knives in his kitchen draw incase someone took hold of the wrong end, then commented on bubbles in the washing up bowl as they presented a hazard as they mask any hidden objects casually left in the bowl. Get a life!!!!! He was filmed driving down the road watching how scaffolders were rigging their lifts, & commenting on its safety........ not the fact he wasnt paying due attention to what he was doing then it showed him spending his time sat in his car & counted how many people entering & existing a supermarket were at risk from being run over as they weren’t using the crossing point the car park had a 5mph limit the crossing has no legality as its not on a highway What a plonker .. When mentioning hse leaflets he picked up the chainsaw at work guide I honestly expected him to have a seizure. Spent all his working life as a finger wager with no tangible reality, made me laugh when the camera showed the look on his wife’s face as he went into another ramble The woman is a saint, coz most would have throttled him years ago we the Tax payer are paying for that. theres no wonder this country is screwed
