  10. interesting costs ? anyone done the ringing around to save me a job plse
  11. your decision to close the road was it made on saftey of highway users or was it simply to get the job done easier / quicker safer for you guys if it was safety re the higheay then imo it was emergency if the later then either you or the customer benefited so you take the hit or discuss with your customer explain the cost saving to them in speeding up the task by the closure & go dutch !
  12. if works are emergency then the bobbies will close the road FOc other than that its upto the local highways sect of the council, their decison will be based on type of road & length of closure , however as I understand it they are not to burden business unduly, wether that be finance or adminisratively, & as a public body should be accountable for the means used to arrive at any charge made.
  13. glad your back @ work fit & well it takes a brave bloke to openly admit ..............
  14. codom' weighted externally even lifting all the scaffold & leaf bearing off it went, ping !!! Ars cleenching moment !
  15. the need for bracing = dodgy tree , compromised by condition/ size /location events or species all add up in the mix , the real issue, is when you are faced with a dismantle of a tree that has wire bracing , whilst carrying out the job you affect the structureal dynamics, then those suckers get very very taught , & thats scary when yr close up & personal, b4 recommending bracing, I would suggest the consideration re HS implicaiotns of any future works !! Not that it is ikely to be me, up the tree However !
  16. 800 acre do what ever you want with that dude natives are great but some pureists get hung up about it . if it takes to the local climate & soils etc then why not especially if the add to vistas etc if that attitude were brought out of the plant kingdom , there'd be screams of racism okay extremes sush as j knotweed that no one wants but the rest if they add rather than detracting from what you have ,then imo bring it on
  17. assess the tree from the ground as a whole so look at canopy for die back , any cavitys within the structure or stem , bark disfunction then as you go up if the timber appears overly brittle get down & order a mewp or a crane, or work faster so the adreneline takes over Lol
  18. have you instigated some under planting that will develop as these decline ?
