  13. Hi Reg my comments in bold I Being certified in a tutorial environment and being accomplished in a commercial one are two different things Agree whole heartedly I had to assume you were talking collectively why should we as an industry not aspire to be seen as professionals ? I’ve never told you how to run your business nor can I see where anyone else has in this thread. I never stated that any one on here had I said those "sat on high" who may pontificate, especially if their experience is not within the modern arena However, what seems apparent is that the majority of contributors feel as if their time-served experience appears to count for nothing, time in the college tutorial environment will never give that which the real world will in the fact that they are being forcibly sent back to nursery school as well as having to pay for the privilege nursery school is perhaps is a ott But I agree , grandma shouldnt be told how to suck eggs. iain
  14. nothing specific meant with highlights I understand what you say re tickets & being asked for them to some extent, A good company may source a lot of works from recommendation & reputation. this may negate a request for sight of cert's but do you think it negates the need for certs ? I am more than aware that the circumstances I describe above is not inclusive for all contexts within the industry. So I assume nothing, I speak for myself , as I have & wish to have no control, over any other individual outside of those in my employ ! I personally arent a trainer, & therefore wont make a penny. furthermore I personally think that this vaildation should be premisable within the industry SO @ WORK in so far as it is done & this can be backed up/signed off . Not just verbally stated ! There are no doubt trainers & assessors that do not solely perform that task and therfore will have other income streams. Equally there are Coc holders, (relevant to our discussion) that equally dont practise their trade as much as some on here do. So lets not assume that they dont need updating EH !!! One voice is not be representive of all contexts. Thats why theres consultation & again thats why I have made my points.to NPTC As I believe that without the voice of the mass being put forward, we could end up with an unbalanced view. I run my business to the best of my ability & challenge the validity of those sat on high to dictate how I should do it. especially if the views held by those involved are disjointed. rgds Iain
  15. The question I ask is how will that PROOF be defined & it all comes back to law & the interpretation of law & who are the people that interpret law Qc's Judges & who do they seek advise from HSe & who do they support etc etc etc your insurer may take your money But in the small print somewhere ! Ask Dean about insurance companys I dont beleive that these events are probable for every operation but they are possible !! for Someone because ACCIDENTS have a way of happening We should HAVE ACCREDITATION or CERTIFICATION if we want to be taken as serious PROFESSIONALS YOU decide ! ME I'm having my tupence worth! THATS WHY there is CONSULTATION .
  16. working groups such as NOS, LANTRA, NPTC , Forestry commision, Isa, AA , ICF, IsIa, TGWU, TCIA, BALi, NATO listed here http://www.hse.gov.uk/aboutus/meetings/iacs/aiac/afag/workplan.pdf
  17. As an employer my concern is that If this is brought in with the terminoligy ' remains valid if training HAS been undertaken then If god forbid an 'accident' happens & a judge has to make a decision re the events surrounding this judgenment will be based on HSE guidance & the guidance notes state NPTC certification If this Certification is INVALID as training has not YET been undertaken What happens to our insurance & subsequent liability, will the insurance cover ??? As you may our maynot of experienced some insurers will avoid payments if they can... So if then our insurance is invalid .. We as employers have a Legal duty to provide effective employer liability cover for our staff .. SO by default we would be trading illegally !!!!!!!! irrespective of Pre certs or insurance in place it just simply may not count Just Because of Wording... .
  18. nope its regarding 'the use' anyone can legally buy a top handle you just cant use it if you arent certified
  19. Well I didnt # remember this refresher training is proposed without certification So Assessors dont get a penny however now is the time for all those Assessor or not to put their opinion forward [email protected]
  20. nothing has changed yet , it is in the consultation stage at the moment keep checking with your tutors or nptc web site recent news link or log on here things dont seem to get far before someone on here picks it up !
  21. Good God alive riding a push bike this is intended to inform & educate ?
  22. As a current nptc chainsaw related assessor I was somewhat surprised to see the assessor guidance notes released to the general public especially When I among other related Assessors have not had prior sight of them. these are then available as crib sheets for candidates I'll be expecting more to be word perfect now Also given any revision , & subsequent training course content amendments Should the time frames alloted to candidates by training providers to prepare individuals for an assessment be reviewed also Current cs 30 31= 4 days cs 38 =4 days cs 39 =2 days then 1 for the assessment
