    What really gets me about all these qualifications & this mentality of this qual is better than that etc etc its very easy to say what we should do !!!! , but do those who preach actually have a practical ability to stand there saying it... is it a case of too much thinking with not so much doing ?

    its not the short term its the on going inspections that I find hard to justify or I'd go get one now 7.5 might not offer enough pay load , or bite the bullet go through hgv & get a big bad boy one ,, I have a cpc so the unrestricted would let me use for H&R,

    if you arent making a profit on the vehicle ie selling for more than you paid & you havent claimed any vat on it then it comes under an exemption so no vat to charge cant remember the official term but HMRc will tell you if you ring them

    my son is 13 & he & I enjoy our time together doing dad & son stuff from driving a digger or tractor or spinning for mackerel ,riding the quad shooting whatever it is as I remember being a lad, time spent is good time regardless of what you do I remember my dad coming home from a trip to orkney & in my hurry to get down stairs I went arse over down the stairs & split my eyebrow open on the skirting board , I wasnt the slightest bit bothered I was just glad to see my dad ENJOY He's just got into karate & I'm the bunch bag JOY

    its lantras own rules that their tickets only last 5 years it is not a mandatory from anywhere else even the HSe give guidance & not rules or laws , however they could ask why you choose not to update , but if you can evidence that your ongoing work & reciept of updates are reasonable then thats your choice ,lets face it training & cert of competance once acheived show a duty of care to the employee & the Mahsaw puts the burden for safety not only on the employer but also the employee so if they dont engage in CPD then .. ,NPtc are NOT revoked however updates are good practise to avoid head in the sand

    according to the HSe it is subjective , a pro user working in the field will need updating not retraining from scratch http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/afag805.pdf Can you imagine the mayhem if every chainsaw user in the country who will no doubt hold multiple Coc had to go throw full re training grandma suckin eggs ....... Dont get confused between competence which is assessed & training which isnt but should be recorded to verify that it has in fact taken place evidence is best record toolbox talk etc issue / access to relevant produced literature etc.

    doesnt mean full re assessment , re training doesnt = re certification of competance it means re training / the demonstration of updates being absorbed into the business operations.
