No I dont think that however I dont just 'run a company' "the proof of the pudding is in the eating" as my comment re personall effectiveness & if you read on I also stated that I didnt have an issue with the work I did & do have an issue with the abiliity to realise that as Fe students we arent daft kids & should be treated accordingly re your term it Waltz through the commercial arb world Is NOT & never has been a waltz.. I proved my knowledge & experience and do so on a daily basis because thats what happens in the real world So thanks for your comments.

It really depends on how good awork relationship you want & how much you need them if they arent prepared to work then thats simple if however its your call then at least a retainer , if you feel that they are worth it dependant on your business profile I would say its worth looking at the long game Oh & the weather report before you book them in

So I looked at the aims of the course to set the candidate on route for a middle management role within arboriculture. Oh I already do that . So sod it, I am not being treated that way & promptly walked out & didn’t go back !! Maybe I was rash , however I know of folks with level 5 & 6 quals That would struggle to work out what the hell to do in the real world Quals are great however they aren’t the be all & end all As Andy said after nearly twenty years in the industry why do they want to flog a willing horse. not exactly grandfather rights but due credit for the experience & achievements thus far .. Credit where credit is due I didnt have an issue with the work, Even the duplication it was being treated as though we were all idiots that offended me

Hi start with a search on arbtalk for recent threads this has been discussed loads food for thought 1 if business was easy then why isnt everyone doing it ? !!! 2 a good tradesmen doesnt always a good business make.. 3 the grass aint any greener on the other side of the fence, it just looks that way However if you dont try you'll never know Ask Hm tax bods re tax liabilitys . then work out what its going to cost you over the whole year, not just the here & now for equipment breakages overheads inc downtime then divide the costs by weeks / days & backwards engineer a cost , that will be what you need then it depends on how productive you are as to whether anyone is prepared to pay that to you for what you do.
  14. possible hurdles in order planning dept, environment agency, highways, local residents, parish coucil. you think it would be easy wouldnt you Nah !!
  15. a minefield gents , there are rafts of legislation for work practices inc Mahsaw 99 being a doosy hse mantra reasonably practicable .training & certification are reasonable Can you the employer demonstrate the competance / awareness of the recommended uses of equipment ? have they under gone training/familiarisation for the kit if so has this been documented ? other than aerial top handle saw the Law is still vague however when the sum of the parts etc ie its not just one overall rule its the death of a thousand bites from all angles. that said in pratical terms due dillegence to demonstrate reasonable behaviour. However that said it is the responsibility of the staff to ensure their own safety too H&S74
  16. Nice ,, next time venture a bit further from whitby ,sandsend ,runswick bay Staithes, saltburn # inland to the grouse moors are brillant too, glaisdale , danby, rosedale abbey loads to see

  18. Syb as far as responsibility goes you have it like it or not, if you have worked on it then for 12mths shes yours , I 'd give some feedback Ie fungal bodies found recommendation to seek advice from a suitable person With Prof ind' . its then the clients decision what to do
