  1. Yes indeed... but I would tend to listen to people who have a great deal of experience in this field...

    Major Project

Take an analysis of all the woodchippers on the market, and decide which is the best at various tasks. Take into account specifications, backup, build etc etc.
  3. Pete - stop posting your boring old guff. Take a leaf from my book, and post a combination of surreal junk, off the wall philosophy, bad advice, and pictures of ladies in sexy underwear. People will love you then.

    Winches

A tirfor is a precision engineering lifting tool. I could'nt think of anything WORSE to use for recovering branches from a river. It would be a very good way of loosing money... Not really sure what you mean here. how could it do this?
  5. RFS back then I think. Demountable crane eh? do you ever need to dismount it?
  6. could be, mists of time and all that. Or alcohol fueled amnesia... Nice Mog you have there. what crane is it - 9tm class?
  7. You guys forget... Training and assesment is an industry in itself. Can you imagine how much cash that industry is going to make if these rulings are implemented? I'm off to get my assesors ticket now...
  8. Good to see you Bob. I remember the old caravan at reaseheath well...

    Winches

    I'll dig out some pics.
  10. Hmm. Good luck with that!
  11. Lombardini are as good if not better than Kubota. The advantage the Kubota has is low weight - but IMNHO that means less metal in the castings... As for Tunnisen, yes, the engineer used to work for Schliesing, but it has far more in common with Jensen machines than the new Schliesings. If your mate is using one of the older 65's, anything would be better. Not good machines...

    Winches

You need a 70cc+ saw to run it, and it will give about 1000 kgs of pull on a single line.

    Winches

I have a Koller chainsaw powered winch for sale. Virtually brand new condition.
  14. and the power steering
  15. Thats a U1700 on the wider axles. A U1200 - 1600 is much narrower.
  16. I know. I just always have this urge to tease Dean:001_smile:
  17. You know, looking at that job, I cant help but think a nice short wheelbase 18tonne log truck with rearmount crane would have been just the trick.
  18. Mmmmmmm Pie
  19. here's a dare for you Dean - find me a tight job that your Landrover gets into that my 7.5 tonner wont... In fact, having owned a big Mog, I KNOW that the mog will tuck into tighter places than the LR. I'm glad your landy works well for you, but its not that spectacular..
  20. John, We are saying Baling brash is un-economic - Moving the brash on forwarders to the trackside for chipping is not. In woods (terrain) chipping is ok, but you need fast chip shuttles to move the chip out of the wood. As I said before, I do not believe you can cut, chip, extract and transport the chip for under £40 per tonne. These things work on economies of scale. Small scale does not usually work.
  21. same vehicle's I think.
  22. of course it will out perform the defender. It's not hindered with a green oval badge.
  23. Interesting. I'm thinking of replacing my landies with 2 isuzus for the economy reasons (and the road manners)
  24. And....? The Nissan has a lo box:confused1:
  25. 5 4x4's here, and 1 4x2. oh and 1 8x4...
