  1. I've owned the 4x2 version of that Iveco, and can confirm that they are awsome vehicles. I'm waiting for the price to come down below £25k....
  2. Here's my favourite - fills a US sized chip trailer in 20 minutes, and thats on tops and whole trees - [ame] [/ame]
  3. Ooooooh.... Great thread, especially with lots of piccies of us working. I think I won the biggest top contest, but it was a close thing... If anybody wants some fine pruning and delicate reductions doing, I'm not your man. If however, you need 150 massive poplar felling and clearing for £150 a tree, call me:001_smile: Charlie, that poplar of yours will take me 20 minutes. I'll do it purely for the photo opp if you want
  4. Actually, I think its wrong to blame people for borrowing. The Banks are the ones offering this cash, they are the ones who are to blame - if they lend it to someone who canno afford to repay them, who's fualt is it? the borrower or the lender? If they were'nt getting bailed out by the taxpayer, do you think they would be quite as keen to lend in unsuitable areas? IMO, the banks track record is like someone who bets on horses and cries into their milk when they loose. They deserve to crash and burn. If our government had an ounce of sense or backbone, they would have instructed the banks - 'OK, we'll bail you out, but NO repossesions, and no further crap finance to people who cant afford it'.
  5. Hmm. I guess you've never seen a 'proper' chipper then? Cause that chipper in the video is just a piece of **** vermeer 1400 with a 115 cummins. And for the record, there are no recorded instances of anyone getting sucked through a chuck and duck chipper. The accidents are because they dont have decent feed control like we do, and a complete lack of any kind of training legislation...
  6. Ford outsell BMW by a large margin. which would you prefer?
  7. There is British company that makes a superior .50 rifle to the Barret called Acuracy international. The Navy Seals are ditching their barrats in favour of the AI. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nig7yzIWKk8[/ame]
  8. Nice one boyo. Is that your landrover replacement? I particularly like last pic...
  9. Dave, I salute your skill with that crane.
  10. Sides that slope off at the back are a pet hate of mine... I like to fire my chip into the back and forget, but then I can pack mine to the brim and not worry about overloading
  11. Wrong. Its you that got the job, your confidence and knowledge that obviously inspired the customer. And although I would have done the job differently, I admire the way you went about it, and think the customer must have been very satisfied.

  14. Yes. among other things
  15. HMF. its over in Runcorn, I'm going to have a look tomorrow. A lot depends on a couple of contracts I'm waiting on, but I need something that can carry my excavator + have a decent sized crane on. Got Acetalyne by the way
  16. Neat. I feel all inadequate when I see that crane he has. Especially as I'm just looking at pushing the boat out and buying an 8 wheeler with a 16tm radio control crane. The crane I'm buying has 2 extensions, but I want to buy another 3 to give me 19m of hook hieght. Anybody know where I can get them?
  17. Ahh.. not sure about Mr Poor's machine, but my Uncle used to have 3 of those Effer cranes for installing oil tanks, and they used to have a little LED indicator of strain, but I've never seen one on a remote.
  18. Eh? Do you mean when I'M operating? on the newer cranes the digital weight load indicator + the computer will tell you what your good to lift for a given radius of reach. On older cranes you have a chart. (and yes, in case you ask, I am a qualified crane operator )
  19. Thanks for the answer Richard, I think we are in agreement on this. The exchange rate affects only your components - on an import it affects everything, INCLUDING the profit margin.
  20. That top picture is Mike Poor. He's become quite famous with that rig. No way we'd get away with setting up under a 10,000v powerline in this country... edit, just read rupe's second pic... Jeez that blue and white rig is HIDEOUS. I've had 75tonne all terrain cranes that are more compact than that 'thing'
  21. No Snow here. dry and sunny today.
  22. Yup. the toadstool popping out of the ants head was a bit schlock horror! I thought you'd enjoy this one Dave:001_smile:
  23. Dean, these are the best I've seen so far - http://greymetal.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=4&products_id=55
