  1. Duc tape, lots and lots of duc tape.
  2. Easily done Mr Collins I am quite forgettable really.
  3. I came over from the Tree House which used to have its own UK section after Steve told me he started Arbtalk.
  4. Hitch all the way, i would like my own SJ for fun so if I had to choose over a lj or sj it would be an sj but still prefer my drt hc with srt access.
  5. DRT is an exceptionally efficient way of climbing body thrusting is not, footlocking is an art but its also a sure way to wreck yourself in time unless you can master a smooth technique i certainly never could but even those who are some of the fastest in the world will use SRT for access commercially, footlocking only for training for the comps. If i ever felt like doing another isa comp I will not even bother with the footlock event why waste my energy. SRT is a good access technique, as for work positioning, thats another thread yes personally i think if you like it good for you but doubt it is something that will surpass DRT as SRT is not new yet drt became and still is the predominant work positioning technique. But hell i could be wrong. I also hate using a pantin for drt access its another way to unbalance yourself over time prefering SRT to gain the top anchor and good route planing to minimise body thrusting or using the pantin.
  6. i,d go with radiative heat damage from a fire over a torn/snapped broken or pruned out limb as there is no obvious socket pruning wound there.
  7. Nice pics thanks for sharing really like the Poplar pollards for some reason.
  8. Andrew T the best thing i can say is forget about self tending, if this is what you want get a spiderjack. Concentrate on getting a hitch to grab reliably, break smoothly and consistently all day and most of all no matter how much weight is in your harness give fingertip control. The self tending business is not important, and will hold you back from getting a efficient working hitch in my opinion.
  9. I,ve been using Imori since launch so what nearly 2 years old? reckon it can go another as i never natural crotch. Its one tough rope.
  10. I hope that's a mighty bit of wood your touching! Sounds like a GTI would be more your thing you look only at what,ll get you from 0-60 quicker and how flash it is completely missing the point. We got an old 97 4.2 24v turbo cruiser, over 300,000 miles on it, the lacquer has gone off the bonnet from where someone massively overheated the engine, it clicks and clanks on full lock and has done for a year ( we will fix it when it breaks) the manifold is cracked, you got to drop the clutch and grind it into 1st and 2nd, the steering wheel is to the frickin metal, yet this week I towed the 15" 3.5ton chipper to site. It's just a beast of burden know one gives a penny on it, it's not about 0-60 or how sexy the button feels to push it just works, it gets the kit to site and us back home, show me a 15 year old disco that can do this!
  11. I do not wear gloves but if I did it would be traffi-gloves x-grip. Seal skins are poor climbing gloves.
  12. I am the same trying to understand why people think a sj is more advanced
  13. In three way it is a poor design prone to failure. The design is also pretty dated the swivel adds only bulk
  14. Easily 500 mature trees planted so far this year alone, along with 300 trees moved but thats not really the same allthough it does increase tree coverage. One of our jobs a year on Avenue of 32 Limes
  15. Foot locking is a mugs game but I cannot argue its an intense work out. I got to agree with Rupemgetting your self flexible and supple with the strength to maintain a position yoga is good for this.
  16. We got a lancruiser, the mile ometer gave up at 300,000 miles but the engine still goes, o,k many of the ponies have fled the stables but it still runs. There has been a horrible clicking noise on full lock the past year but still no failure. The steering wheel is down to the steel and the foam has fallen out of the seat leading to, a lop sided gangster style driving position. The bonnet has has lost its lacquer after the engine over heated causing it to fade but still it will not die!!! It just will not die It's a 4.2l 24v turbo seems the best one they made, I,m also amazed as it only gets cleaned on a rainy day that the body has no real major rust. If I could afford the running costs I,d have one myself stunning vehicle.
  17. This is the puppy you want it may be twice the price but it,ll pee all over the bc1000 which is a nice robust chipper but it's performance is from the single feed roller is disappointing. 2006 VERMEER BC1400TX Machines - Forestry Equipment For Sale At MarketBook.ca
  18. Just checked one of mine today, and it has the same in one place, checked among my colleagues who also have a couple of hc,s and one also had the same. To be honest I thought I remembered seeing it but never gave it any thought, after a while they get heavily worn anyway so what's a tiny cosmetic defect as long as it does not affect functionality.
  19. New England taccyhon, Yale Imori and lime light at present. To be honest rope is rope to me, but I do really like the Imori it's lighter than 13mm line but does not feel much different in the hand by tough wearing I,ve had mine before it even had a name.
  20. It's about as orthopedic as my extortionately expensive orthopedic bed, as in it will not cure your back woes. Any good fitting comfortable harness is good for you.
  21. It's just smoother I I think I,m right in saying it was developed for rock climbing on single line so ideally suited to this application.
  22. Looks normal to me, I,m not sure about dmm,s process but usually the plates would be bundled into a tub full of abrasive beads to polish out slight imperfections, just looks like yours still has one of those manufacturing marks that failed to get polished out it should not affect strength. Pretty sure one of my hc,s has the same not got my kit with me now to check though. But please send an email to dmm with the pic.
  23. Glad I,m not the only one ladders are the devils woe along with platforms.
  24. How much is a timber wolf new? then compare it to that machine. And i am surprised you got 15" cord wood through that, also if the button is to far around for you to reach your standing in the wrong position! never feed large bits from the front of that machine it can ruin your day! And to be honest I like the fact the leg switches are so active as this could save your life. If look look around second hand versions of these machines are very good value, it seems the bigger the machine the more you get for your pound. If i ran a mog i'd give strong consideration to running a road tow like this over a pto.
  25. To me pullied friction savers are the boss, the tefalburger ones have the best pulley the pinto rig, it's large diameter bearing pulley is better than what art offers, but it is prone to getting stuck. I have a homemade job, but would reccomended an art pulley saver, one with a steel link pulley is you can stretch your budget. As for cord and knot I cannot reccomended anything for you, you just got to experiment and find out for yourself. I like 10mm o.p and either a Knute or vt.
