  1. Given its location I'd have to say retire it from use. Keep the other components and see if you can just replace the strop with eye.
  2. Not what I'm seeing on my rope, but it's already pretty rough I found the armour prus pretty harsh for me, nothing that concerns me though.
  3. Matty the zz after a while is silky smooth to descend on almost on par with a hitch it surprises me everyday. But I still love a hitch and would be equally happy on both.
  4. I've bought 6 throwbags at just over £15 a shot in the last 3-4 years I'm down to my last 3 and they need replacing soon. The lead free thing is really a bit of a gimmick in my eyes, yet the product they have used gives it its weight and compact size so there are logical reasons for the price. Although I would of liked to of seen it a little cheaper. I love it over those damn rockets which can drive me mad the throwpod rarely gets jammed and can be manipulated well. It's worth the price.
  5. It's always interesting the difference in opinion, for me 10oz is a little to heavy especially for really high shots. Also you cannot look at it as a rope knight copy they are 2 very different products with just a similarity in shape. Having used both products to me they fill different roles and if I had the cash I'd have both, for day to day throwing though I'd use the Pro Toss sorry I mean throwpod (still prefer my name for it).
  6. The problem with this is? It's ANSI certified surely? Fit for purpose definetly. And yeah the earliest tree motions had problems with the webbing material and hardware. The guys I worked with got them replaced under warranty
  7. Don't let it put you off its still one of the best out there, your boss may of had an early one or not had it adjusted well. I,ve gone through several bridges and the padding is worn out, the webbing is now a fail, all is replaceable
  8. Sucks hard, we got done over on Tuesday 3 200t's 460 and a 341 in a private office complex parked within eye sight of us surrounded by CCTV. 4 guys in a R reg two tone blue and silver Mitsubishi Shogun took them 3 and a half minutes from entering the site seeing our attention was diverted scrambling into the enclosed unimog chip box and off site, done whilst we were packing up. The driver of the vehicle was arrested today.....
  9. Really now? I bet I'd destroy that Buckingham saddle just as quick. Had my motion nearly 5 years and yeah it's due for replacement, but I could also rebuild it. Some people are harder on their kit, I know guys that climb a lot and the motion has been very durable. At the end of the day it comes down purely on your personal preference.
  10. 1 I'll only use my lanyard as an aid for good position or if I think a bad swing is possible, I do not own a wire strop, do not spike many poles.
  11. I wouldn't climb just get you to do it and you would/do and always do, it's by far not the worst thing I've seen you climb.
  12. I only briefly looked through so I could be very wrong, but it looks to me as the zig zag is just acts as a back up to the munter for bail out only say for instance when doing pole work so not necessarily implying its an srt device. Kevin made some good points in another thread
  13. If your using the ice axe clip that comes with the pulley saver I'd suggest getting rid of it as this could cause damage to your rope and could be the culprit. It could also be the SJ if you take it off the line and look inside you will see the tips of a screw head it seems as this gets worn it can create a sharp edge... I know some one who used a file on the screws so they do not protrude into the area the rope runs but not sure about this. A reason your not noticing the same thing on velocity is probably because its thinner and doesn't chaff on the screws or drag the retrieval clip into the pulley,

If they are saying its all sorted now does that mean those with an early model get it sorted under warranty. And where is this reefers fed that its now sorted?
  15. You using a pulley saver?
  16. Well it looks like you have not used the single ascender much in time you may notice the same wear on these to, and maybe not depending on how you push up the ascendor.
  17. Nope and trust me my regular access line is donkeys years old, can you post pics of the glazing?
  18. Most of my ascendors have this wear, it just seems normal wear and tear to the handle plastic.
  19. Some truth in that, the guy is hardly young and we could assume he,s used kit like this all his life and he still seems fairly intact. I,ve worked albeit very briefly with some lumberjacks in one of the poorest areas in Europe they have no ppe cutting in shorts and flip flops, they treated the saw with a lot more due care and respect than most I see over here wrapped in their ppe body armour!
  20. It was discussed at length at the final decision was 11 stone.
  21. Not on my 12mm Yale it all seems rope friendly so far.
  22. Stats mean nothing, the proof is in the cutting.
  23. It's mainly for access also they should be showing the ascendors backed up with a prussik? Do not know as I can't open the files right now. For what it's worth i think the zz is nice better than my hitchclimber? Not really its just different.
  24. Mine rubs like in the pic climbing DRT in the way petzl intends it and after a few climbs there is already some signs of wear, maybe because unlike joe loggs I'm over the optimal climbing weight?
  25. Worn clutch sprocket particularly the star type not the rim n spline.
