  1. The real issue is the LA in question doesn't have a TO, it's all handled by the planning dept, and they don't have a clue about tree legislation.
  2. That is not correct. I have been to a&e myself and taken others as a result of work related accidents, it's never come up. The nhs never do anything for insurance companies without getting paid for it.
  3. I'm sure they would find an alternative solution pretty quickly! After all the time I have wasted filling in 1apps for them I don't care if it stays on their system until the sun implodes.
  4. That's the reason I don't want an online system. If I'm out in the sticks and I want to retrieve a quote on my iPhone or iPad and there is no mobile data service then it's useless.
  5. My thoughts exactly, the problem is the LPA has no way of getting it off their planning system since it is impossible to determine an outcome. My view is that is their problem since it isn't an application it shouldn't be in the planning app system in the first place. May well have some fun with this one!
  6. If I submit a notification to fell a tree, and the LPA decide the make a tpo on said tree, do I need to withdraw the notification to finish up the process?
  7. Eddie, you need to buy a bit of software called parallels, it runs a little version of windows on your mac desktop, then you can run any windows software inside it.
  8. Tramadol is the stuff for knee injuries!
  9. In the same boat with Mac, don't really want an online system, looking at Mamut Account Edge, which is very similar to a package I used to use called Business Basics.
  10. Had it done about 3 years ago, you are supposed to have a couple of weeks off to recover but I was back at work within a few days. It can be sore afterwards as the procedure involves hyperextending the knee joint for easy access. The actual incision and surgery is fairly minor, depending on the extent of the injury.
  11. Yard wise, you need enough room to drive the truck in and turn it round without reversing. (Dont ask me why) If the access is on a busy main road or in a residential area you may get objections.
  12. Run a restricted licence for a few years now, not hard to get provided you have a suitable yard and no convictions or bankrupcy/ccjs etc. Keep the paperwork up to date, contract out the maintenance and its very little extra work, especially given the work a bigger truck can do for you.
  13. It will dry a lot quicker in the tunnel than outside, but airflow is the key. If you loosely stacked billets in the tunnel I think they would dry by winter, but its a gamble.
  14. copied from someone on FB: Masters Results: Johan G 1st Beddes 2nd JTurnbull 3rd Giovanni Ugo 4th Stewart Witt 5th (DQ) Anja 1st Veronica 2nd (DQ) Jo Hedger 3rd (DQ)
  15. If you're burning quartersawn timber, you have too much money to burn.
  16. That is correct.
  17. Always found the 3.5 t dailys a bit skittery on the back end when empty, especially when towing a big trailer.
  18. Depends on the truck. Canter would happily tow 3 tonnes all day, transit is rated at 2.2 but only really happy with 1.5 or less IMO.
  19. Just to be clear, the reason your tree isnt worth anything as timber is that the cost of extraction to roadside far outweighs the value of the wood. If you had 50 of them in a nice stack at roadside then you would be able to sell to a sawmill. As your tree is in a back garden it will need to be sawn into small enough pieces to carry out or move with a small machine, and the cost of that work will be more than the value of the tree as unprocessed firewood. Once the tree is sawn up it is useless to a sawmill.
  20. Did the company that felled the tree not want to buy the timber from you?
  21. Leaks don't generally fix themselves, and if it seems to stop its probably because all the oil has leaked out.
  22. Very nice Mark.
  23. Get on one of the American forums, you should be able to hook up with a firm in Cali.
  24. The Greenmech Safetrak system is very good for uneven terrain, although the 19-28 isnt quite as big as you want it is a very capable machine. I would have thought your best bet for the type of machine you describe would be a railway contractor, its not the sort of thing your going to find at your local hire shop.
