  1. Sounds reasonable josh. Also welsh businesses are eligible for grant funding so all Welshmen must be millionaires too.
  2. That is the root of the problem, food should be at least twice the price at retail, and farmers should get a much bigger proportion of the retail price. That way we wouldnt need a farming subsidy system. How does anyone look at tesco selling 3 chickens for £5 and not smell a rat? In real terms food has never been cheaper, in the 1950s familys spent about 40% of household income on food, today the figure is nearer 10%. IMO the primary reason for this is supermarkets driving down prices from producers. (not just farmers btw)
  3. You dont even need a rope mate, you can normally reach the top from the ground!
  4. Started at 2pm, took advantage of a 4 hour window of dry weather, got two jobs done, and still home in time for tea.
  5. Actually it would do me fine as I never go more than halfway up a tree anyway. I normally spike a third of the way up and then fell the top out. Thats on pruning jobs obviously.
  6. Not quite sure I follow your maths there Rich.
  7. I started out in 1972 with a bicycle, a bowsaw and a length of washing line. Had to cycle 40 miles each way to site every day, and then do 16 hours for sixpence halfpenny. After 17 years I saved up enough for another bowsaw and that's when I set up my second crew. The rest is history.
  8. Do you climb trees taller than 18.5 metres? Most of my work in cambridgeshire is in tiny trees so I mostly use a 30 metre rope. I keep a 50m in the bag for special occasions though.
  9. Apparently it was down the back of the sofa all along.
  10. That's not right, you should contact the company you bought them from and give them an opportunity to sort it out. I'm on my second pair and they are great.
  11. I'm sure the little code that signifies the 8250kg MAM didnt exist before 1st Jan 1997, and the old paper licences don't have it. Anyone with a paper licence care to check?
  12. This has been around for 15 years now, and all the info is there. It's up to the driver to know what they can and can't drive. Having said that, there was a little bit of naughtiness from the powers that be. The old paper licence didn't have the restricting code on, that was only added when and if you changed to a photo card licence.
  13. Is there a manufacturers name on the powerpack? A new motor shouldn't cost anything like £500, even a complete new powerpack should only be £250-300.
  14. Standard LA call out is probably £450ish plus vat. Depending on the neighbour I would have done it for between £20-£100. On the question of liability, the LA has an obligation to keep the highway clear up to a height of 4.8 metres (i think). If they had previously asked the neighbour to clear the highway then she doesnt have any comeback on the bin lorry issue. Of course if the lorry was off the road at the time then that is a different matter.
  15. My tyre guy uses a snap on, says its pretty good. I was looking into buying one but then I got a big compressor so I stuck with the air gun.
  16. I thought it was fairly realistic, insofar as a simulation made for a tv show can be. The myth was that a snapping cable would cut a person in half, the conclusion was that it would probably kill you with the impact and internal injuries, but wont cut you in half.
  17. Give me a shout if you need it transporting, may know someone interested in purchasing it.
  18. Mythbusters did a load of tests with a pig carcass and some big cables, worth a watch if you can track it down.
  19.:lol: Thats hilarious. Does is go right over the cab and drop it in the bed Bob the Builder style?!
  20. Nice work, bet your sore today. Get lapped by anyone?
  21. That looks very smart for a first attempt, how many did you cut off and bin before that one?!
  22. Treeworker is the pink rope specialist.
  23. Poison Ivy also good, plus it also comes in a snazzy hot pink.
  24. Save your money and get the 650 tuned up.
