  1. I would be interested in a 38 with RR.
  2. Radio remote an option? What's the price on the 38hp version?
  3. Electric trailer brakes are very common in the states, they tow 7-8 tonne gooseneck trailers with pickups. Admittedly their pickups are more like our 7.5 tonners. Anyway, should be possible to import a system from the USA.
  4. Use the crane legs and two big rings to lift the front, then cut some chunky lengths of timber to prop under the chassis about halfway along. Lower the front down, the back should come up on its own.
  5. Thinking about it, all the diff locks are electrically operated, so in theory you could separate the switching so the H/L knob does just that, and have the diffs on little toggle switches.
  6. Yeah, it's a real head ache. The V6 has 230 hp and 550 Nm of torque, which helps.
  7. I had the same dilemma. Gone for the V6 Navara, you still can't select low range without locking the diff but first is really low, being a 7 speed. On the occasions you do need to reverse a trailer on tarmac in low box just let it scrub the tyres. Actually the Isuzu salesman said they would fix it under warranty if I damaged the d max doing that. They have a 5 year warranty so that might be worth a look if you're going for brand new.

  9. Don't know, as it stands you need less in the way of signs and cones if you have the vehicle set up like that, it wouldn't surprise me if it became compulsory.

  13. I've always wanted an urban artic for a mini wag and drag timber hauling rig.
  14. Plus a walking floor is lighter than a tipper so more payload, around 30 tonnes on a 44 tonne artic, and you can load them with pallets from the rear and just walk them to the front, which you can't do with a tipper. That means you can use the trailer on other work or get a back load in.
  15. It might take a bit longer next time, I'll build both edges up and regrind them square on my surface grinder.
  16. This is where Jensen owners can feel a bit smug. Did mine today, took nearly 5 minutes. Could have done it a bit quicker if i hadn't stopped for a cuppa half way through.
  17. I'm not bothered about IVA in the slightest, but I wouldn't want someone getting prosecuted after taking my advice, when that advice turned out to be incorrect. I did get stopped by plod recently, with an obviously brand spanking new trailer on, and the first thing they wanted to know was if I had the CoC. As I'd just picked it up from the dealer I had it in the truck. Shows the police know about it and are actively looking for it.
  18. The O categories are Maximum Authorised Mass, not weight carrying capacities. Category O1: Trailers with a maximum mass not exceeding 0,75 tonnes Category O2: Trailers with a maximum mass exceeding 0,75 tonnes but not exceeding 3,5 tonnes. From the VCA website. I think you are barking up the wrong tree, if it's got wheels and tow hitch it's a trailer, and it needs Type Approval or IVA if it's a one off.
  19. You can Cull them, but you have to do it while they're looking the other way, so as not to disturb them.
  20. Hire a steam cleaner for the day.
  21. You could build one yourself or have it built, and take it for a single vehicle approval test at a vosa testing station. It is worth noting that manufacturers of trailed plant such as chippers are going down the full type approval route.
