  1. The 357xp, although strong (if you get a good one) is a dated saw & a real pain to work on when they do go wrong. That's what we are replacing
  2. Got a purchasing policy that does not allow us to buy any more orange crap unless it's a 346xpg
  3. The cuts in the centre of the stem may well help by relieving the tensions within the stem @ the point of the split. Very interesting & thanks for posting
  4. Do you have an opinion on the saw apart from a comparison with one no longer produced, as I am looking at them at the moment too?
  5. Impressive tree - less than impressive tree work. I'm glad they oversized the crane.
  6. It's all in the manual - under starting procedure. Most saws make a similar noise when you run them A dual port muffler will also change the exhaust note of the engine & by virtue of letting the exhaust gases flow more freely increase the power output from the engine. However do some research before fitting one as you will have to adjust the carb prior to running it.
  7. Good post Dave, thanks
  8. Still peddling your trash Daniel. Suppose being the Dadio requires you to seek the accolades from the dumb masses. It's like watching an attempted suicide without any hope of your demise - sad
  9. I'd pay the extra. I have been converted to heated handles over the last couple of years & now would not consider buying a new saw without. Warm hands on a wet, bleak & cold january day - priceless
  10. After meeting Dave I will vouch for him. He's at the top of the game:thumbup1:
  11. Cheers. Feel so much better so unfortunately get alot more done between breaks though:biggrin:
  12. Easily replaced with extra tea breaks. Situation normal
  13. Nice one Andy. I am a week or so behind you & enjoying being an non smoker. If I had known how easy it is I would have quit years ago. I have to say there is the occasional "moment", but the fear of quitting is the greatest obstacle. Then when you understand that your body does not actually need nicotine (even though it will get a little anxious at it's removal from your system) life does become more enjoyable.
  14. I think LDV locking fuel caps fit. Either that or just fill the tank with expanding foam
  15. Chinstrap undone on the ground for me.
  16. Well done. It's nice to see positive steps in the legitimization of handsplicing. .
  17. Until something goes wrong & the insurance company invalidates your claim:sneaky2:
  18. I would be conservative & with any rigging, avoiding it, if at all possible. Krech will have weakened the stem at the point where the lever forces encountered by big rigging will be greatest.
  19. Nice Josh. Some smooth ropeing
  20. Will they work with my fig biscuits?( I can easily make a hole to insall it) I hate dropping them down the back of the sofa. The fluff detracts from the taste sensation.
  21. cross with what? pm me if it's a bitch
  22. The Wraptor is an awesome ride, I tried it out a couple of years ago. The way forward in big tree work
  23. Don't worry Dave, he will be back there tomorrow (cutting me more nice dead oak firewood) He's doing a great job "cleansing" the woodland path of all nasty deadwood. But we have only allowed him to cut path side. Gotta keep these ecomentalists appeased:thumbup1:
  24. Looks like a call to the enforcement office then Bob! Only a foolish contractor would not bother to determine the ownership of the trees they work on. Either that or the don't care
  25. depends how you climb. If you are going to weight it heavily, be conservative. If you are going to be gentle and distribute your weight twixt what your standing/climbing on you can go quite small. Use your common sense
