  3. That did not sound pleasant Angus. When I worked for a few weeks with Derek Brazel in OZ (Glen Innes area) I learnt alot about bees. He was VERY allergic and we had to plan the route to the nearest hospital for each work site. I also noticed that bees are far more common than here in the UK, where they are seldom an issue on the work site
  4. It's not a definitive piece of research. However as an indication of generic rope behavior it is relevant
  5. 123 views and only 2 comments............ I guess predicting the percentage strength loss in a rope, when knotted is superfluous knowledge
  6. Another article- Knot Break Strength vs. Rope Break Strength
  7. Understanding Cutter Teeth On Pro Saw Chain
  8. Where in the system whould you put the dynometer?

  11. So what are your criteria for a "compliant" competent person? I guess i'm old-school. 16 years ish of tree work, 5 years of LOLER inspecting - training however ONLY nptc- with an update recently.
  12. textiles start to deteriorate from the moment of production. This is accelerated greatly by UV light. Think of how brittle a bit of polyprop becomes when left out to the elements
  13. How ?
  14. Good news on the CE approval. It's a nice rope to climb on

  20. The facts as I understand them at present are ; Splicing is the modification of a CE marked piece of kit therefore no longer compliant Importation of non CE marked kit makes you a supplier - contrary to the requirement of the use of CE marked PPE I'm not in total agreement with the above, but that is what defines what is "fit for purpose". As is true for any legislation that is so broard reaching, it is predominatly positive in it's outcome, however in some limited but important areas it is obviously limiting
  21. Good discussion. Sad and sorry state of affairs imo. Here is a pic of a factory splice next to a non-factory one. I bet you can tell which is which
  22. not if the tree was dead..
