  5. I disagree strongly. Stop smoking & don't transfer the fixation. It's a permenant thing, not just a short term infatuation/transferance. Deal with it & enjoy the rest of your life
  6. Bob hides away in the office behind a shirt & tie these days - I would have to be truley cunning & steal them out of him car in the morning if I wanted them

  9. A fast back-cut is not always enough. Especially free-grained timbers of a larger diameter, eg willow alder ash some poplars etc. Not saying it can't be done, but additional measures such as increased depth of face cut, reduction of the hingewood length at each side etc. Alternativley you could research the Coos bay cut. Great in some situations but has no directional properties
  10. Your rope strop would take a couple of tonnes to break it Dave, but would be easier to cut for sure

  16. A union is only as strong as the workers make it. I guess general apathy will be there demise, as with alot of participation lead things in this modern world. I for one registered my vote
  17. That is from the Mr Goss guide book then?. Not from NPTC for sure
  18. If you feel that you do not have the required competence to use a piece of kit, then it would surely be common sense to seek-out tuition before using it. Either by an approved trainer or the manufacturer.
  19. Bear - not quite 2.
  20. great knot when secured with a couple of half hitches. May loosed when tensioned then un-tensioned otherwise
  21. Spike on & stamp my way to the top. Cool tree
  22. Not all fells are safe.
  23. Lascerated bracial artery in my right upper arm. Lost my footing & got kick-back. Self rescue & emergency surgery.
  24. Great post Nod. I guess we often rely more on what we have read, than what we have been told & more on what we have been told, than what we have figured out for ourselves. What I'm try say is we should perhaps examine the source assess of our information & assess that prior to depending on it. Questioning is natural, why fight it?
