  1. Link please
  2. What I want to know is why you were googling tree work & strap-on?
  3. Good description. It need not be as complicated as a skyline to be effitient and practical
  4. Too many variables & too complex to throw any numbers about without hours of maths. Common sense is the best tool in this case
  5. With some ingenuity, lots of rope, a couple of winches & some muscle I can't see the task being impossible, especially if you can tension lines with vehicles etc
  6. Hama, polydine would not be suitable for this application as it's not static. The stretch would mean you would have to "over tension" the line to get comparable clearance with a static line. The extra stretch is what make it a good rigging line, dissipating some of the energy. In most speedline set-ups people try & get the line taught. This is seldom necessary & puts a massive amount of lateral force on the rigging points, possibly inducing faliure either when tensioning or when extra load is placed upon it whilst rigging
  7. Amsteel or something similar. If you can't get a vehicle near how are you going to winch?
  8. Nice work Reg. you look very much at home now over there facing the different challenges. Has modifying your cutting style helped & do you think they are an improvement aver all?
  9. taking bets that Bob & Dave Humphries get maximum points
  10. Funny. Results are quite scary! 12 for me
  11. To retrofit would you not need to replace the flywheel & install all the other electrical sundries - not simply the heating element? Sounds like a less than cheap & simple affair to me
  12. Same as any chuck n duck machine (no feed rollers & a drum machine). They are still used all over the world inc the US & Aus. Nice home engineering if you ask me
  13. If you have a 372 I would recomend disabling the heated carb - a great way to cook a saw if your not carefull. I would cut the wire
  14. If you don't care why comment? You obviously can quote chapter & verse helping someone who requested it. Or are we in the presence of someone who always knows better ?
  15. I check my own kit - what's the problem.
  16. The triangle looks like the perfect way to induce splitting of the stem. Why use it? The further the back cut progresses the more wood to cut & the greater the forces upon the wood fibres building up behind the hinge. On freegrained timber that IS going to cause massive issues
  17. Look into the "coos bay" cut. It's not directional but may be perfect for the job.
  18. They can earn you a lot of money, but they are horrible to use.
  19. What your looking for is NOT first aid training. You are wanting above & beyond I.e. first responder which is more expensive & time consuming
  20. Very very nice Dean! You fitting any tool boxs?
  21. Big climb. Looked like plenty of fun
  22. 254 or 440 can't decide twixt them
  23. Done & can help with the climbs if you cannot get anyone more local to help you
  24. Illegal burning by those in a smokeless zone without a cleanburn stove, yes, but not found the illegal supply
  25. Bear sleeps in the kitchen & never goes upstairs unless he is sent to get my lazy ass out of bed
