  1. But your from Leeds - that's as posh as it gets in Yorkshire - people have to loose a full 5p before sweating & blind panic starts
  2. I stand corrected
  3. I thought they were for cutting scrub - nowhere near long enough for cross cutting by the looks of it
  4. Some cracking tree work right there
  5. Was it a LANTRA approved course/training centre? If so, then they will be the first people to contact
  6. I'd feel dirty & sullied buying one - like buying a copy of the daily mail
  7. What is wrong with supplying proof of competence I.e. Tickets before purchase? Oh & eddy-t, that is the most ill considered & nieve post I have read for a while. The basic ergonomics & handling properties of a climbing saw make both the chance of kickback with incorrect technique high, but also the compact nature means that when it does occur it is difficult to control.
  8. A friend in guisborough has been targeted over the weekend too. Pulled there hoods up, covered there faces & went to work, ignoring the cameras. Things were well locked down so they only got a couple of blowers, but we know they will be back!!!
  9. From a walk on the estate the other week And a couple
  10. Crew here. I find zips annoying - especially when used to trap beards & or chest hair
  11. Nice video. Why was the stem felled on spikes? I'd not want to risk the stem not. Breaking off the hinge early enough & coming back at me when the tip hits the floor
  12. There is some debate with AV gloves. The fact that they are inherently thick & reduce your sense of feel can cause the operator to grip much harder. As a result the vibration levels transferred to the hands can be increased as opposed to normal grip with normal gloves
  13. It may be something other than white finger as your exposure is not that long within the industry. Perhaps reynauds syndrome or even carpel tunnel. I would stop guessing & have some medical tests done asap to nail down the issue
  14. It looks like you overcut the bottom of your face, turning it effectively into a step cut as the fibres look cut ?
  15. Looks like there was no hinge:scared1: Did it come down as planned?
  16. At about 3mins 20 [ame] [/ame]
  17. Great article Tom, which raises some interesting issues that do need to be addressed, especially with regards to the use of lesser quality biomass for fuel. There has to be a shift towards it at some point, as we cannot just rely on virgin timber for all our future chip needs.
  18. The hood keeps your neck warm & out of the wind & is not constrictive like a scarf or similar. I try & always get a jacket with one
  19. Climbing without an effective aerial rescue climber or climbing without any - no difference IMHO Not many could rescue anyone in decent time so just plan for the worst. I often climb with just brash draggers onsite - not ideal but needs must
  20. If you employ someone to do a specific task, what do you expect? Certainly not argument, refusal to work or complaint. If you feel that strongly then perhaps carefully & respectfully discuss your opinion over lunch. Then back to the task at hand straight afterwards
  21. Great pics Reg
  22. I am a fan of grundens wear - very tough. I really like the gauge jacket - it takes everything that I can throw at it, but like most she'll jackets it condenses badly inside in really heavy rain
  23. If you lock the holding arm straight, then you massively reduce effort whilst tending slack. Rock climbers "rest" in the arms locked position as it relies on the skeleton etc as opposed to muscle usage
