  1. I use bench grinders for bars 28" and above. I need them to cut perfectly every time so it makes sense & is based upon efficiency. I see no point spending hours getting them right by hand. Below that I hand sharpen.
  2. Ti - read the op - the hitch hiker bit
  3. On the hitch-hiker a vt is a very poor knot - if you disagree with this, then you have no knowledge of the device!!! Do you own one or have any time on one?
  4. The knot should be exactly as per the instructions IMO - if the legs are too long & the knot too far above the body of the device, it can be a difficult to get it to grab reliably, especially on thin cordage. After long ascents, when the knot has run & not grabbed then you often have to tend the hitch as per most knot of this style. Stihlmad- the vt is not a good knot for the hitchhiker in my experience
  5. ...........
  6. I reserve the right to be wrong at every step
  7. Those "limes" look a lot like poplars
  8. Nice. let's see a pic of the gullet Mine are a little rough in this pic, not cleaning the file often enough
  9. Grumpy groundies with tazers would be equally entertaining
  10. It has been noticed that people, although willing to duck under tape, barriers etc , do not like lifting there feet up. I find a few bushy branches to supplement the usual cordons really helps as the muppets seem to stop & scream when they reach them
  11. Does the krab not flap about in that configuration Paul? It would drive me mad having to sort it out & re-orientate it all the time
  12. Sorry - cut the rest of my post off for some reason. Was asking why metal on metal is bad for light rigging
  13. Please explain why metal on metal is bad
  14. Sorry, no idea- I have not compared them to anything else
  15. Best for me - such an individual thing. They might be the worst fit for you
  16. Used anything from chain oil, veg oil to expensive products. As long as you do something they will be fine. Got to clean out the welts & brush them off on a regular basis
  17. Not as heavy as you think. Great boots - I have worn them for years. I usually get 2 to 3 years out of a pair
  18. Skyhigh-arb, why do you not invite Redwood/forst to this discussion? If you are prepared to air your grievances publicly then they should be allowed to reply. I do not mean to degrade your grievance as I would be less reserved than yourself.
  19. I run the clarkes on larger bars - never had a problem with it
  20. What this man says & it's approx £1 a litre
  21. Tall trees & some tidy cutting there
  22. Signage is invisible to some people & instructions are to be ignored. This is the price that is payed for there actions
  23. Rest of us flip out over a tuppence !!
  24. But your from Leeds - that's as posh as it gets in Yorkshire - people have to loose a full 5p before sweating & blind panic starts
