  1. I strive for efficiency now I am older. Planning my tree is more important & I take the time to look and assess, as opposed to running around like a deranged squirrel with ants in my pants.
  2. Some nice big tree killing there
  3. I would expect the item to be labelled as failed & returned. As an inspector, I will only destroy or dispose of an item with the owners consent or by prior arrangement, as It is not mine. I will strongly advise it though, in certain circumstances to prevent further use.
  4. That's my problem, I have a vast choice of such machines, but no one local I can find with a small vehicle mount Thanks for the help though
  5. I am struggling to find a small vehicle mounted machine. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
  6. Oops, forgot the picture
  7. Got a 2002 ms440 recently. Not been run for a few years so it had a few issues. Crank seal on the clutch side was gone. Replaced that, & still not playing. So I stripped it down & found that the piston rings were glued solidly to the piston. A petrol bath will hopefully sort that out this evening. Oh, I had another accident with the Dremel this afternoon the pot & piston were begging for it
  8. Need I say anything more
  9. I only use srt dismantling single stem or more upright trees. When there are twists & doglegs in the stem I like the advantage that a conventional system gives me to haul my way past them. Pruning is done 95% srt these days - much easier
  10. Looks really nice Tom
  11. Are you not going To use your zigzag Steve ?
  12. I fell on bankside sites primarily (otherwise the harvester would usually do the job). It is standard to fell them & then winch them to a place where the harvester can process them (if cost effective). Dependent on the form & size, I might dress them off or leave them whole. The real nightmare is having to winch downhill, as there is no greater joy than hauling a winch cable up a steep slope
  13. Have you changed the fuel filter ? Another primary check is the tank breather- does removing then replacing the fuel cap temporarily remedy the problem?
  14. You can always put in a request for him to contact you, again you have to go through the switchboard. I don't know of a direct line.
  15. Another thing that will help you, is to develop a strong relationship with your boss. It is all well & good working hard to form a strong team framework, but if you are not supported by or your decisions are undermined by your manager, then your authority is worthless. He needs to have trust in you & your decision making & vice versa.
  16. I always liked this;
  17. That looks great to me. I am learning to sharpen square ground & it is not easy maintaining a clean angle from the top corner of the cutter.
  18. I also find there lack of heel, especially when worn, a real issue with spikes staying in place. As was said, each to there own, but they are overrated imho
  19. Old man sharpening aid from lidl:)
  20. How can a brand be responsible for this? Surely another manufacturer would fill the void. The actions of the individuals - most definitely driven by poverty are the issue & should be addressed, not the tool of whatever make
  21. I have a range of rigging kit & if anything other than my rigging rope come out then I charge a little more. Like I do for the use of the 660 or 084. I negotiate everything with those who I work for before I bring anything. If everyone you work for has rigging kit then save your money imho
  22. Fantastic setup Tom. I would have killed for the use of that over the last couple of days
  23. I usually elevate the bore cut to the same height as the back cut if possible - 6 & two 3's really 7 monster transit loads today from a beech & a lime - glad we did not have to ring it all up !!
  24. Bit of a mismatch on the bore cut height, but tidy Pete. A couple of 12ft chunks I had to pull with the loader - just shy of 3ft diameter, so the groundies heard my full range of vocab as I hauled the 660 up there !
  25. I looked at those yesterday John - shame that they have sold out. Are the worth waiting for?
