  1. If you can't make a harness last more than a couple of years you must surely make enough money to replace it by then. How long do tyres last if you wheelspin everywhere? ?
  2. Sorry I missed that.
  3. Have you tried contacting them directly to ask for help and advice? I am sure they could do something ( the contact form is at the foot of the page) https://www.simarghu.com/
  4. If it is showing signs of ash die back then it's days are numbered anyway, so a 10 year management plan will probably be a fell it next year. Once it is infected, I am refusing to do any works on ash trees other than felling (or crown removal leaving stem for habitat). This might not be the best approach, but after working an felling trees with severe decline, I rapidly came to the conclusion that the sooner they are removed post infection the safer and easier.
  5. I cut 3m for firewood (logdeck size ) - for produce I cut 3.2 or larger. You need to sort your market out before deciding
  6. Oh so simple when there is no pain, blood or adrenaline and your not hanging between two anchor points
  7. That looks like an awesome bit of kit !
  8. I know the math and have destroyed rigging & rigging points. Well explained
  9. Yes - it will be (theoretically) twice the load applied.
  10. I use commercial fishing bib and brace. Hot, but 100% waterproof and don't get destroyed working in the woods. Breathable waterproofs don't breathe when wet so are pointless if it is raining hard
  11. If it has all the prerequisite information with it & is labelled correctly why would there be an issue with LOLER inspecting it? Is there some hidden agenda I am unaware of that fails 3 strand automatically because it is not a fancy double braid? Please explain.
  12. It comes in either hard or soft lay I seem to remember- softer is much easier to manage. Great for working on rivers as it floats. I still use it for natural crotch rigging on big trees if needed & bin it when it’s melted
  13. I have full chisel chains for felling, but always swap to semi chisel for tasks like cross cutting winched timber as it is much more forgiving of dirt etc i cannot see it being a detriment on balance
  14. Some epic work. The decay in the base of the stem I seem to remember was massive, hence all the guy lines keeping it stable.
  15. Or work out the exact specifications and limitations of the new guidelines & don’t behave like a sheep and follow everything blindly “for an easy life”.
  16. This!
  17. I have been on ultra for a couple of years at least & have had no issues with newer or older saws. I wonder if your fuel has a larger percentage of ethanol in it, which appears to be an increasing issue especially when saws are sat for a period of time.
  18. Take more than 10 minutes to sort those out with a bar press ?
  19. BUMP ! I'm in need of urgently replacing my old Stihl one (battery died). Suggestions please
  20. Dogs had to be modified & some mad max welding done due to some worn bolt holes. She is long in the tooth and a horse or two might have escaped. Exhaust has a good note though!
  21. I but big dogs and a full wrap handle on mine to help manage the longer bar in a tree. Really helps IMHO
  22. Sounds like a bit of a bully - must have something to hide
  23. @Ty Korrigan. Any feedback on this?
  24. I am looking for a portable second hand capstan winch for a couple of small projects. If anyone has one gathering dust in the back of the workshop that they would like to sell it would be appreciated. Contact me at [email protected] or tel 07798 743573 I am based in the North East.
