SRT: Since when?

Recommended Posts

With the relatively recent popularity of SRT techniques,I am interested to learn approximately when it became well known in the Arb scene.

Since many of the new techniques are often pioneered on the competition circuit,I am also interested to know why the technique has not yet been accepted as a valid competitive platform ?

When I first started 27 yrs ago I used a hand ascender and it's a long time since I got my first foot ascender

Admittedly changed a lot over the yrs

Rope access and covers certainly had a big input

As part of those it certainly brought me on.

I remember going up a single line when I first started, my old boss had bought it for access. We used a double ascender and foot loop. That would have been about 2001/02. I think it was a while before people started working off SRT though. I could be wrong. But it wasn't really invented was it, the rope access guys have been doing it for years..

When did the RW mk 1 first appear ? You really have got to give all the credit to Kevin Bingham for bringing it on for work climbing.

I'd go with that Matty.

It's been around for access for ages, but I think the RW1 bought it to the masses in tree work, certainly over here.

Kevin Bingham won't have to get too many beers in if I ever meet him, that's fo sho.
