How can we revitalise this forum?

I think a big part of the problem is people can’t read correctly.

 

Wisewood ( nice bears) started this thread asking why there had been a demise in ‘Chainsaw Carving forum’.  Didn’t take long for people to get the wrong idea and start moaning about Facebook, brexit and then the usual political bollocks.

yep.. i agree, i personally like mens talk,, in the tap room,,,  carnt be pestard with flannal / wots its worth kind of talk / quote my logs, bollocks / get to fuck, get real.. 

Put your girlfriend / boy-friend away, and talk site.... with a real sort...

It’s true that some arbtalkers can be seen to be a bit aggressive, calling people liars and other derogatory language, but by and large it’s still very good and easy on the eye.
As someone who should have sold his assets years ago and retired at the usual age, I’m guilty of spending too long in Facebook groups and YouTube of an evening , that’s not just for younger members.
I believe with Steve’s guidance AT will continue to shine brightly.

Not sure you’re right Rich, it raised issues about this place that needed airing, is the golden age of the privately owned/run forum on its way out? Is there anything to be done?

You will always get the derogatory language (unless Steve put an outright ban on it). I genuinely believe most, not all of it is in jest. Mr Johnson and I can throw the odd Tw*t into each other but guess who we both ring for a yarn or to run things by someone else.

I don’t think forums are ever going to disappear, there are just so many other mediums now. In 10 years time Facebook will likely look altogether different. Already the younger age groups aren’t using it. Instead opting for snapchat, Instagram.....there will be something else round the corner to take over from their popularity, and so on
