I drove pass some guys who were taking a big tree down probably horse chestnut. The rings were piled up in the road.. i stops and says to the guy, if you want to dump them closer than wherever you are taking them..them we could use them up the allotments and all the wood chip as well. 800mts away. i never thought ,I’d here the reply I got,,, bear in mind.. how long it took to drive to where ever they were taking them man power time and fuel.. his reply was, we can sell them to you. ????. I replied what green wood your driving miles away, and a free dump site 800mts away. Carryon. there was another big reduction going on of some poplar,,, I got 3 trannie loads.. of chip..that they would of (over loaded of course) had to drive 10miles away.. when I went back for more,, the reply was you’ve had enough ???? now all the organising of drop off etc, is a pita,,, which at the time I was willing to do.. it just goes to show times change and some guys want to milk a buck or two.. I know we are all different, you just have to find the right persons at the right time..

You say this from a place that still sells ethanol free fuel. The manufacturer can make an engine to run on good or not so good fuel.. but someone can make something they call better and sell for more than twice the price. Just look at the organic stuff.. is better for you? Well maybe, is it all better than the alternative probably not. So buying a saw in Brazil , can they afforded run it on aspen, or do they even sell the stuff. You must know there there are people designing stuff just to sell..And marketing is where it is at

Still no pics of the prunus...but I f it stayed up after yesterday’s wind. If your referring to fabz, you only have to read some of his posts on other places on the net, to workout either he’s trying to be a comical, or he’s got some unnormal brainwaves going on. The other two guys brad and randy have a good reputation. There are many saw porters in the USA to choose from and I will say their are a few guys to keep well away from.. I,m not here to say who, just make sure you do your readings in the interwebs first, and make sure you get upto date info, good apples go bad after a while ?

This is Interesting, I will wait for Edwards reply however you don’t say how long you’ve owned the house... and where the previous owner parked their vehicle (i say vehicle because some are a lot heavier than others). So depending how long you’ve lived there, I would like to know how could the council prove it was your vehicle thar has done the damage and not the previous owner. Although you don’t say if there is anything wrong with the tree..

Ask them about using a saw with no working chain break. Ie a poorly maintained saw. I bet you get the same answer... your just giving them a getout of jail free card.. i still dont see the insurance side to this debate. Ie your cutting a tree, and the tree falls on someone’s (enter text here) its operator error in my book..

If I see a saw ( lol) I will more than likely Ask if I can try that saw. Hopefully the person says it had a sharp chain.. or a blunt chain... it’s not running right either way I get to try it.. if the reply it’s a blunt chain, I say can I try it and also ask if I can sharpen it... what’s the harm... if I sharpen it the recommended way.. (no fancy stuff) then they use it afterwards. And then ask if I sharpened ok. Or if I find a prob like dirty air filter....I just say so.. but a reply is normally followed by I forgot to tell you..and. lazy comes to mind.. This way your, testing/trying there saw and also showing your sharpening/maintenance skills.. it’s not to show how good you are, it shows the positive skills you have and are willing to pass them on... another way way to look at it, your up a tree and your chain needs a lick. Who you gonna ask.... ported saws or not,,, safety is the main point. And if a guy can’t be bothered to keep his chain tight. Well I am not using that persons saw.. but I do want to who who’s saw I can pick up an be able to use when I have to... its really away to help teach safety.. nothing more nothing less but as the to the OP, it’s way better to learn on well maintained saws and then move on to better tuned saws. Thats is why most peeps learn to drive in new poor performance cars not hot rods.??

I have to say most home owners, walk blindly pass a tree, just don’t see it..changing or about to happen or even a windy storm rolls in the winter, and that’s not being rude to the OP or anyone else. Also homeowners may find the next inspection adding up and up.. the cost does count up eventually.. unlike councils most peeps has smaller disposable incomes. however, cable bracing should help over a longer period time and a bit more peace of mind.. in those windy nites. Every ones mileage will vary, that’s why it’s good to air all the options that are available to the OP.. but it’s in the OP point of view it should follow not throw cash at in the direction of a inspection every ....however long..

the key here is a poorly kept saw chain has just as much if not more potential in knickback. a propper filed chain is smoother cutting than a poorly kept chain. A little more power and tourque means you can keep it cutting at a speed that’s smoother. Unlike when you force the chain to cut and the av is worked harder and the chain is slower. So you get more vibration to the worker.
