If you look at the link between the two cutters, the rivets are slightly polished and this is the link that joins the loop of chain hence the possibility of not having opposing cutters.

My echo has a larger gap with extra strap between left and right cutter.

Interesting that 7 years after I started this thread I’m still no clearer about what constitutes what, chain wise.

I use a blob of Tippex for that. My Dynamac saw has a 16" bar with two cutters the same way.

Blue marker pen. Got to be blue. Makes me feel all engineery.

Pink nail polish also works well!

I use a black permanent marker so I can have a little sniff and headbuzz to spice the tedium of sharpening.
