  2. And why do you think they should down the tree, you can't really force them as the tree predates your house and your not even the owner yet.
  3. Sounds like prison suited you! Don't assume having kit = making bank!

  5. I was going to suggest this guy on YouTube, you beat me too it. I've watched a few of his videos recently, after someone else on here recommended him last week. Very good.
  6. Feck’em, I’ll stay here tonight, can you make our Joderall Bank? I’m sure
  7. Hello all, I'm looking for some advice regarding these California Lilac bushes. I thought they might be dead but there are some green shoots sprouting from a few branches. The home owner wants to cut the top of the tree removing all the branches, even the ones with little bits of green starting to come out, and see if it recovers. Is that a good idea? Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.
  8. Aye, it's good to read a bit of positive news these days.
  9. Same experience for me, further south. I gave up trying to get French distributors of two-wheeled tractors to quote me - beyond some dodgy guy who obviously works for the French distributor but seemed to be trying to sell me his demo model - 'we don't usually sell direct to customers, but in this instance etc etc'. The Dutch are way more proactive
  10. I want to be charitable and say he's cleaning up beaver damage, but I don't think that's the case.
  11. Hi Big J Thanks so much for chiming in! Really interesting observations, as were the other contributions 👍. The Lennartsfors should be really useful in my random, quite densely planted hardwood forestry (especially for the first major (overdue) thinning exercise - so for my own use, I doubt I'd need to expand my kit to the next level in terms of productivity, expense etc. I had considered that as it could be so easily loaded, it might earn some money for similar use cases as my own - and sufficiently retard proof to allow for standard equipment rental. The forwarders like the log bullet look great for sure but they are quite expensive and to my brain seem to occupy an awkward middle ground in terms of expense and utility that I can't quite fit with my own thinking. Spending incrementally more on the next step up, in terms of capability, does not seem to compromise much with regards to lower impact operability, while opening up more demanding higher volumet work. With regards to expanding my plant to the point where I can earn money from an owner/operator model, I had considered spider excavators setup for skyline, and then in the summer using the equipment on building, drilling and other non-forestry work. With an 18t dumper and the spider, I can see some potential for longer term contracts, but I'm still looking about to survey the market in these other sectors. In any case, I really appreciate the advice and observations - it really helps to clarify things! Jonno
  12. Very apt for the way I felt earlier! I can’t even blame the drink!
  13. Looks ok id leave it alone. Though you could mulch round base etc if you like....
  14. As a project, you might be able to pick up a spares or repair model and mix and match them together - some spares or repair are "can't be bothered with it", you might get lucky (I have 2 hedge trimmers, both spares or repair, both worked well (one doesn't now since I rebuilt it - a winter project) ). Not sure it is worth a lot spent on new parts but is nice to get something working again.
  15. I would be very surprised if a 20 year old mixed hardwood plantation had material of a suitable size to meet any training/assessing requirements for groundbased chainsaw units.

  18. looking at the photo it seems easer to nick them than sell them they must have been prolific
  19. How it started, well it started in a field as the wagon driver refused to go through a 17’ driveway. So it was dropped off at a mates and the trailer was used to get it where it is. The bags are slowly getting filled. Didn’t buy it to sell but life changes. I may have far far too much now and no real option but to sell. If I do and it sells ok, I may invest in some serious kit. If not I’ll stick splitting by hand or very slowly with the forest master.

  21. Hello mate, any updates on this after a years use? I'm planning to make something similar myself. Also wondering why it's necessary for the sling to be made rigid? is that just loads of tape, or is there a stick in there? Thanks!
