  2. Some very hard wood is best mixed with softwood or split a bit smaller, oak and laurel come to mind. As others have said, to test the wood correctly, take a big lump, split it and measure the centre.
  3. VID_20251223_171601.mp4 A repeat client, newly retired from a caravan dealership where he worked as a fitter/mechanic, took these motors off a caravan that had been in an accident. In exchange for some tree work and firewood, I now don't need to pop a vein in my neck pushing 1000kg into my garage each evening. Yet to try it on grass but I've a job in January where we can try that. Just in case it doesn't work, my colleague will bring his 4x4 mower to tow it into place. It this proves successful, I'll look at a more beefed up jockey. I need to adjust a rubber air hose to give the control box under the hood more room. I'll also upgrade the battery for a higher capacity one. VID_20251223_155548.mp4 VID_20251223_121329.mp4

  6. You can leave it alone; eventually, the adult insect emerges. If you’re curious, you could put it in a ventilated container and watch from a distance.
  7. Yes . Since I was 5 or 6 years old . 😄
  8. I am gonna try these next. i have had two pairs of Aku and got 7 years out of my first pair and on the 8th year in my second pair. Only used for pruning though. If the chainsaw boots last as long then they with be worth the extra coin. https://www.aku.com/en-nor/products/cimbra-gtx-orange-blue?srsltid=AfmBOopdBA-UpRC6WOaE4i21zuzx2Bl_ioJ_ynsDdj9-9wown9a_S2Z1yDA

  11. Certainly is a sweet spot of a tree that a customer seems to be massive but you know it is an easy. Getting into those bigger trees I fancy are less profit and more hassle. Easy trees easy money, and plenty of energy left for lifting pints in the boozer, or in my case to do battle with children when I get home.
  12. I have never spent more than £3600 on a tipper, now on my third truck in 13 years. First two tippers I just used three sheets of ply that I would fold up and tie with old rope at the start of the job. Very versatile set up as you could have you full bed back once tipped off and boards removed. Latest truck came with tool box/locker and a shonky drop side bed on the tipper chassis. I paid a local engineer to make me an aluminium high side body with barn doors had it made slightly narrower than standard body and it has definitely helped it fit in places I wouldn't have other wise. Cost £2500. Tipping gear was already present. Had three years out of it so far. Van engine is a little poorly but still limping on, aspirations of swapping body over onto a mk8 transit if I can't sort current tranny.
  13. He didn't look comfortable lying like that, but Maxwell behind him - as she often is - looking on to make sure it is happening.
  14. Woke early and back to sleep again! She has just delivered the tea as well! There is a covered in fire hole in the bedroom, going to get a camera to see if the fireplace is still there today. If it is, she will want it exposed as a feature..... Tay, Cab, Rake.
  15. You sort of answered your own question really. You had a yard by the road with piles of chip and machines and signs etc. iirc it caught the eye of every motorist going in and out of town. Will this location be able to replicate that or is it just going to be a billboard type thing?

  17. This didn't get much attention at the time. It should have. Even a lot of the domestic MAGA don't like it. I'd be interested to know if any of our UK MAGA think it's a good idea. Anyone? Anyone hiding at the back there? Unregulated AI doesn't seem like a wise move to me at all. We're starting to see problems with it on here already. Any Musk fans out there comfortable with him doing whatever the hell he wants with his robots? 18. Thank you AB. I can see you've got some venerable old pollards there. Very nice. This one is particularly eye catching - I can't offer any advice on how best to bring them back into service I'm afraid. No experience. I'd guess it would have to be a gradual process though, to minimise shock.
  19. Petroleum coke is quite aggressive on any metal work in the stove
  20. They look like very old puffballs or eathballs, possibly stump puffball Lycoperdon pyriforme.
  21. Weird - he came on my youtube feed last night, another of the greats.
