  4. I went on a little freebie bat seminar at the APF a few years ago. 90% of the attendees walked off as it progressed. I stayed to the end, thinking, “He must be getting to something actually useful soon.” Soon never came. Total waffle. Met a few bat twats since. None struck me as much different.

  6. Vibration is a oscillation X speed. Electric tools should have virtually no vibration in principal, unless the motor/bearings are is damaged. It's always the attachment that induces vibration. Grinders run super high rpm. If the disk is even slightly out of balance there is vibration. If the disk is perfectly balanced there should be no vibration. Petrol tools oscillate by nature, due to the crank and piston system. Electric saws have no inherent vibration in the motor and the chain speed (attachment) is low rpm and low mass, therefore no vibration from the attachment (unless damaged, missing teeth, improperly filed etc). Long reach hedge cutters are notorious for vibration as there are oscillating elements at both ends of the shaft. Any shafted tool can produce vibration of one or more of the shaft bearings goes bad. My 131 pole saw developed a bad bearing, it now vibrates so much it heats my gloved hand on the trigger handle within seconds, from the friction of glove material moving with the handle.
  7. Battle damage assessment expert now eh, another string to your bow. In the meantime any chance of getting those loose ends tidied up blagger or is that too much for you.
  8. Good Morning.
  9. @pleasant So a wee update. I got the drive pinions off and both of them were moving freely. The internal parts for the wheel that is working are a bit worn, so they may need replaced in time. Behind the wheel that wasn't working, there were two problems. This plastic spacer is cracked, but I'm not sure that is causing any issues yet, its more to do with raising and lowering the height of the machine. Maybe I can glue it. Secondly the retaining wheel nut was stripped (not shown in these photos). I suspect this was preventing the large cog in the wheel from aligning with the pinion gear. I repaired the thread, but still no drive on that wheel! The investigation continues.

  16. It was also the reach I got from loppers rather than saw which was handy. Seen battery secateurs and very tempted but would not have reach. About 80% of growth was inch and a little more.
  17. Different route, agencies for rail track must be worth a shout they are always looking for staff at short notice.

  20. Don't be so sure about that, the one in my shed is a 2000 model and owner had it from new, it now has 128k on the clock and last year went for a special MOT that proved even with carbs its emissions are below the level necessary for ULEZ and now has the paperwork to prove it. He recently siffered a heart attack so I begin to wonder if he will ride again. I found it a bit buzzy and lacking low down torque compared with my MT07, too much gear changing even though 25% more powerful. I inherited a 2012 CBR250R from my brother, it is my shopping bike and I do less than 1k miles a year with it, nice and light and good fun, makes my wrists ache below 50MPH.
  21. Generally you are responsible for your side and shouod maintain it, and in most cases a fence will mark the boundry, after 12 years it can be claimed as the boundry. Where as if its just a fence, usually each homeowner will be responsible for one side, which on ours is the left, when looking out the front, cant remember if theres a standard for that or not. Our neighbour had two large leylandii on each corner of garden. They eventually had one removed our side (before I started tree work) but left the other side. When it was time for the fence, they had the contractors be lazy and put the fence inside of the tree, gifting a couple square meters to the other neighbour. The leylandii is twice the hieght of house and damaged by a council birch, I will see if I can get the job of topping it down to a sensible height some day.
  22. Thought I’d follow up - unfortunately had to pull out of the deal due to complete lack of communication. Upon telling the dealership I had no real communication, no trying to save the deal….just a sorry please don’t hold this against us as a dealer (what!?!). After pulling out i followed up and asked what is wrong with the digger, turns out there is a fault in the wiring harness and Mecalac are making a new one (no explanation of timeframes). If anyone knows of an 8MCR or tab boom excavator around 8/9t I’d be interested, feel free to dm me.
  23. Does anyone have a Sherpa agri or small for sale ? feel free to contact if you do, thanks [email protected]

  25. It's the turn of the leaf cutters now. Mason Bees finished weeks ago, but I still see a few hanging around. Hyper-locally sourced materials only used in nest construction, lazy buggers! Also, someone has got confused and used a pink "leaf".
  26. Not that it affects me, uk wide?
  27. Hey ho, silverback. Must dash and apply my pubescent frame to an axe.
