Nothing wrong with my splices. It wasnt about saving money but learning and practising the skill of splicing. The rings were bought from HoneyBrothers who are one of the largest UK arb shops, or perhaps one of the most well known. They are rated, 25kN parts from what looks to be a reputable brand. Have you looked up their history? They were set up by a ex ISC guy. They are not a traditional manufacturer as they do not make anything themselves. Anyway, I'd suggest chrome is not very well suited to connectors, particually aluminium where the metal underneath is soft. The chrome tends to become rough and flake off. In this case I believe impact against the tree or between the rings has caused the roughness. Polished them smooth, problem solved, will be using them tomorrow. I have some steel Kong biners that are chromed, so AtHeight are not the only ones. It can flake off of steel too. Its just odd as, annodising is much cheaper, more durable, looks better, doesnt cause any issues when dented or wearing through.
  6. I have no idea what he was talking about.... Not sure he does either. Is it related to his dementia testing I wonder?
  7. I'm grateful the rats round here don't carry crowbars. I've managed to get the rats around our house by baiting up an area for several days then shooting them with a normal scope at dusk as they nip out to feed. That has the bonus that I can guarantee a safe backstop. I'll get a night vision setup at some point.

  9. We are cutting some lovely 30ish year old coppice that's in rotation. We will coppice the thorn too when we are done and leave oak standards. Great to see a local authority planting and managing hazel. IMG_4241.mov IMG_4241.mov

Bandit 2550T diesel stump grinder. Top-of-the-range Bandit grinder with radio-remote control, hydraulic blade and green-teeth wheel. Approx. Β£65,000+VAT new now 45 hours on the clock. Supplied with the original Bandit paperwork, manual, spare teeth/pockets, backup tethered remote and Bandit hydraulic testing kit. Recent comprehensive service including all engine oil, filters and coolant alongside a full hydraulic service at Global including brand new genuine Bandit filters. It also had a full set of unused green teeth fitted this week. It is a 2016 machine, making it one of the last Bandit models to use the proven 45HP Kubota V1505 turbo-diesel engine. It uses very little diesel compared to a v-twin petrol and I've seen these engines with over 3000 hours on them. It only weighs approx. 1125 kg making it light enough to be carried in certain 3.5t vans/small trailers. Very powerful grinder, I've done some big stumps with this and it runs very smoothly/quietly. I can provide video of all the functions and video of it grinding if needed. All original yellow paint, factory stickers intact. Some paint chips on the wear parts - plow/cutting head/tie-down points etc. It starts and runs as you'd expect for a 45hr machine. You're welcome to come and view/inspect in person. No VAT to be added. Open to sensible offers - Thanks for looking.

  12. Cooked a ham, crackling not over good mind. Eat some tonight, leave Tom some for during the week and freeze a load of slices for 'Ron.
  13. Small tyres tend to get flattened when they are packed for transport, it definitely pays to "round" them out by putting an old inner tube in a few days before you fit them. Warm tyres are easier to fit than cold tyres. Three tyre levers are better than two and leaving a small section of bead unlubricated stops it sliding round after you πŸ˜‰
  14. Got a 2nd bull dog bone on its way.. currently somewhere in the UK
  15. This post has now been filled - thanks.

  17. All towbars are type approved and have a ce mark. Many years ago we would make them for motor homes and commercial vehicles, but couldn’t make them for cars as all have to be approved. The mounting points are approved by the manufacturer.

  25. I want to try some kind of sliced then baked thing but my oven is rubbish. Spills loads of heat out the door. Wasteful. Maybe some kind of posh tater tot. Some blokes that run some restaurants in London (Fallow, Roe, Fowl) have pushed the recipe in front of me on facebook a few times.
