Thanks! Ex tree inspector came out to look and said much the same, confirmed its Trametes. Probes went reasonably deep and actually there are hollows all sides, but he tapped around the trunk and buttress roots to find they were sound. Recommending a 2m reduction to previous point and will write a report for the planning guy to decide, as its got a tpo.

Thanks for that Gents explained it all. I think this may be a rule or urban myth from the trailer licence. Eg you can’t tow an empty trailer which would put you over when loaded. it’s not a particular big trailer and looks right on the van. thanks again

Lies lies and more lies everything you are known for mr anonymous. Facts SP keep it to provable facts not the fantasies in your head. Sentencing !!!!!!! The 84% “ I won’t say that’s an accurate statistic but I’ll use your figure” go to jail as BQ posted. My point for the umpteenth time is that due to libtards like you those gangs were allowed to rape and bugger kids for years due to pathetic weaklings being scared of the racist label Let’s sort our own house out before worrying about the actions of the democratically elected president of the USA. House proximity... if it has been there 30 years and the extension for 17 a competent builder / architect will have accounted for it (however....) As above, hard to kill it off, poison, keep going at it taking off all the new shoots as they appear or stump grind the roots and hope. Even the logs taken off will sprout roots and shoots if left in a suitable place. I'd look at managing the tree as well.

Have a look at the Foggysail fix on another site, it should help!

Morning, up and out to do a wee village favour for the community orchard. Blue skys here and getting warmer.

If they were on his property the conveyance should have flagged it up. Until the council prosecute there is no loss. If they do prosecute and win then there may be a case against the conveyancer but I don't think you can get compensation for the cost of a fine in a criminal offence. He had the tree felled and ignorance is no defence so it will be interesting if the council do get involved.

That does sound concerning. If the root sample wasn’t taken near the actual damage and the sketch shows damage in an area where none exists, you have every right to question the accuracy of the report. It might not necessarily be fraud, but it could be a case of carelessness or miscommunication. You should consider bringing this up with the arborist directly or even seeking a second opinion from an independent professional. Document everything — especially the photos and discrepancies — in case it needs to be formally reviewed later.

Ash dieback - Different perspective?
tree-fancier123 replied to Mark Bolam's topic in Tree health care
he makes two observations about the spores 1 no leaf litter due to paved area below being swept clear 2 no other ash within 100m so, although the tree may have been infected, the absence of other trees and leaf litter means after abscission the tree can shed most of the pathogen and have a reduced chance of re-infection As above it may also be a genetically resistant specimen The leaf litter will remain at the base of most ash trees, aiding the pathogen's establishment. So if the author is right woodland ash close together are far more likely to succumb. -
Alcatraz, closed because it was too expensive. Nice little earner now from tourism, maybe with tourism plummeting in the US that income is dropping too? A vanity project that will do nothing to reduce violent crime in the US, some might even see it as a challenge to get sent there. Headline grabbing but like most of his headline grabbing not going to happen (build a wall all the way across the Mexico border, all hell breaking loose if hostages in Gaza arn't released, end Ukraine war in 24 hours, take Canada and Greenland into the US, and the biggie, Tariffs to instantly produce all stuff in the US, and the biggie, Make America Great Again)

Heavy Duty Woodland flail mower?
woody paul replied to tektoms's topic in Forestry and Woodland management
If it's only young growth you could get a cheap topper mower 6 ft wide. Easier to maintain the flail. That video has been speed up a lot would of taken him days to do that. I run a old Wessex scrub master, out of machines I have used before it's an animal. -
So £4000? Collect any mowings or discard?

Yeap, it's all a massive game of smoke and mirrors, playing the pity card to shame/guilt trip into a green wasteland. It's a bit like a security expert telling me I need reinforced steel doors, high security locks, biometric id and state of the art alarms and patrol dogs. Then the dawning realisation it's a bloody portaloo!.

I think the price is fair honestly. Guess the market will decide?

How many gangs and what machines do you run mate?

Why don’t you post some photos so we can see what is on offer? Also it might make a difference if you are able to arrange haulage.

Hi all, I’m a teacher at Cuckmere House School in Seaford, and we’re setting up a new forest school area for our students. I’m hoping some kind local tree surgeons or arborists might be able to help us out with some natural materials. We’re looking for: Log stools or cut trunk sections suitable for children to sit on (see first photo) Log slices/discs for crafts and play (second photo) Any large log sections or simple planks that could be used as low benches or balance beams (third photo) If you have any suitable offcuts or surplus wood from recent jobs, we’d love to give them a new home in our outdoor learning space. We can arrange collection from anywhere in the Seaford/East Sussex area. Thanks Dave

It’s a fair point. -
How old was the plug? Arbs are known for only changing things after they fail, or not at all, and just buying a new one... If the aspen is more volatile, that would be the difference. Pump fuel usually has different blends for summer and winter to aid starting, and reduce evaporation. I assume aspen/husq do the same but the timing may be different. Could be same mix all year, but that would suprise me. I havent looked into it, Im happy on pump fuel.

Not bow stave material but an impressive tree I spotted out and about today nonetheless. Looks like it regenerated from the hollow centre at some point, (probably centuries ago!).

It's been 6 months since last newsletter - that has got to change! News - we are revamping the CSB website and we should be able to re launch the new version around Feb/March 2025. Now to around July 2025 and when it does launch it will be alongside the existing one... still lots to do and it's about as interesting making a website as it is doing newsletters! The end result will be very slick! We have loads of stock to clear but it's tricky knowing the best way of doing it with so many chains - as a starter we need to sell all the .325 .043[1.1mm] chains that are guarded to make way for the unguarded version which will be unique to us. Buy 1 and get 2 free - yep makes them pretty much disposable find them here. Use voucher code 325 in the basket and it should take off 66% of the price on these. These take up so much space so get a bargain - £160+vat off - find them here: Eco-42 42″ Ecomill Eco-8ft-J 8ft 1st Cut System [Comes as x2 joinable 4ft sections] Eco-V Vertical Mill [for bars up to 25″] Eco-AO Eco Oiler FREE WINCH KIT! Take the strain of chainsaw milling with this included winching kit. Use the voucher code KIT in the basket. How about a 25" Bar - x8 chains, drive rim, spare nose all for £98+vat? Reason I don't think we'll continue with the Panther 050 concept in the 3/8 bars - these bars run 3/8 .050 chain. Find this offer here - This will fit: STIHL 029, MS290, 034, MS340, MS341, 036, MS360, MS361, MS362, 038, MS380, MS381, 039, MS390, MS391, 041, 044, MS440, MS441, 045, MS450, MS451, 046, MS460, MS461, 048, 065, MS650, MS651, 064, MS640, MS641, 066, MS660, MS661, MS500i HUSQVARNA [FITS WITH GB912 ADAPTER CLICK HERE] 61, 64, 65, 66, 70, 77, 160, 162, 163, 180, 181, 185, 260, 263, 266, 268, 272, 280, 281, 285, 288, 298, 365, 365XP, 371, 372XP, 380, 385XP, 390XP, 394XP, 395XP, 562XP, 575XP, 576XP All the best and thanks for your ongoing custom it is much appreciated.
