  2. Interesting.. Had similar. Alarm goes off in cab at 70⁰c. 46 hydraulic oil isn't ideally supposed to get that hot.. 60-70 according to JD but still strikes me as awful hot. Blown out all rads, replaced tank return AND transmission filter. Now maxxing out at 60⁰c. There is a thermal valve aka thermostat which is supposed to get the oil up to temperature faster but it might have a check valve which will stick open with debris and bypass the oil cooler entirely - not good.
  3. Not sure where to post this, all scrap wood from neighbours builders waste, 4 new 100mm screws, 2 chair legs, 3 pallets and the toys rescued from the beach.

It's the sprung tensioning mechanism. Even has a little internal catch for remounting the bar. All well and good until it breaks.
  5. Not really, just seen essentially the same joke posted on here about 100 times in the last week - different images but the same - mix it up, keep it fresh, else will see a post and just scroll past assuming it is the same old-same old
  6. So this is the F*%^ing reason so many people are trying to nail me to the ground on pricing at the moment! 🤔 My day rate is all over the place at the moment, between them "All tickets, no experience lot" undercutting me for just beer money, and then this!! FFS!!! Okay, 3 men and a chipper and I'm all yours for £80, Turning my business into a charity now.

  8. Husqvarna 61 was fathers main saw alongside another 61. The 044 was my first personal saw I bought at auction 8 years ago in bits and put new gaskets seals and top end on. That 070 was bought brand new by my granddad and was used on a double ended bar with the other 070 on a mill replacing two large Huskies father had a local dealer make one good 070 out the pair then it sat on a shelf for 20 odd years all I had to do was unseize it put new rings and exhaust on it and it started so I bought the 36" bar for it with intentions of getting a mill that I've only bought today. Mcchulloch pro mac 800 on the left has a 28 inch bar and was given to father to hold on to and was never picked up and the big Mcchulloch 450 I bought at an auction for £18 with 30" and had running within an hour the oldest in the collection . Also got an 051 av sat on the shelf that done alot of felling for father. Then theres ms170, 009, 020 av seq, ms200t and a Norwegian Jobu I got from my deceased neighbour.

  16. @Ledburyjosh Yes, all good points you make there.. The MDL unit does have an adjustable feed speed, with stress control. It also has the advantage of driven tracks (with a slightly counter intuitive hand-control system, I found). Weighing in at 480 kgs, this is crucial ! I inspected it at their yard today, but didn't have space to bring any branches, to properly test it out.. 🙄 I spoke to a Scottish commercial owner/user who rates his machine well. I'm hoping to try/use/hire a machine in Preston, if all goes well. The machine is pretty much identical to the Oshai tracked chipper, but less than half the price.. It's also sold directly into the Japanese market too.

  19. I have a Stovax Stockton 8 and noticed that the fire wouldn't shut down if you shut all the dampers and put it down to the stove meeting the latest regs. Not being able to gain full control of the stove bugged me so I set about working out where the air was getting in and traced it to the top damper so I made a plate to reduce the air entering the front of the top damper and got the stove working as I wanted it. I can now shut down the stove and subdued the burn as you should be able to do.

  22. Still no piccies, sorry. I promise I will do one day. A house in woodland which is for sale, and client wants it to look more saleable. Cue him hiring a chipper, and me turning up with a van full of pruning gear, and ladders on top. Even with one of his staff feeding the chipper, and one of my mates helping me, there's still a gentle day's work left for tomorrow. There was a lot of walking, and a lot of thin brash to clear, and lots of ivy. We had a Greenmech Quadchip 160, which seemed very happy with branches up to four inch or so, but not so much with anything bigger, or the leafy stuff we gathered up, unless we could run a nice branch through at the same time.

  28. Two cracking songs. I might have had a phase of playing both on repeat when I first discovered the originals. They were well before my time, I only heard Somebody To Love because there was a dodgy dance remix played a lot on the radio about 20 years ago. Controversial! I think it sounded OK, had the same energy as the JA version. Better than this similar effort at least:-
