  2. Yes, true, though I will drive it in reverse for the most part which will limit that and can open the infeed to lower the weight on the drawbar. Jockey is due for replacement anyway so I might look at fatter model. The original one fell apart very quickly and the current one is a design that folds up as you wind it. Bit close to the truck and the winder has been hit a few times. I'm sceptical about the longevity of the control box given heat and vibrations.

    Chickens?

That’s Charlie isn’t it? I left the headless one out for 36 hours and it moved a few times so it’s something strong enough to drag a chicken but not strong enough to carry one. And only a bit of it eaten. Littler nibbles than a fox would take I’d have thought.
  4. If you want to go full conspiracy theory, it’s the government, arms, logistics and energy industries, driving demand for electricity for pointless computing, in turn driving demand for oil (and consequent profitable conflicts to get it). Or it’s a computer that just wanted to see if the answer was still the same. Or just churning more answers for better averaging.

  6. Ridgeline soaks up the water in the outer material like a sponge. Have a had a Hoggs smock which was fairly decent but couldn't go all day.
  7. the "jimi Hendrix" style of chainsaw operation, wait until he uses his teeth! and then lights it on fire.
  8. Well first try of my initial foray into cider making. Not as dry as I thought it was going to be, maybe dry/medium, very drinkable.

    Jokes???

  12. Dogging in is getting birds back into your cover strip using a spaniel usually ( but not exclusively ) some time before you do the drive . In a nutshell cover strips should be on higher ground ( unless they are going to be blanked into higher ground before the drive comences ) Pens should be the oposite ground to the cover strips . ( birds will usually fly from cover back to the reliece pen they were reared in ) . Feeding can be by hoppers or you can hand feed by whistleing the bird and feeding on a straw ride . You want the feeders in the cover strips . This is very baisic . There are other subtlties .
  13. petroleum coke is tempting and some smaller suppliers do sell it by the ton(around 400 euros) but the quality is debateable as is sulphur content... It's not the same as from big suppliers who actually make it in their own refinery like Rompetrol... Although at 8.7 to 9.8 Kwh per kg ,its more than enough for a small stove 😂 See for yourself Packaging is 13kg or 20 kg bags. Burn time (their statement/word) 10-12 hours... Better than coal briquettes, nevermind oak or wood briquettes...

  15. Crank up the big diesel server, Steve. This bandwidth’s about to get busy.
  16. I didn't ask tonight, just got a beer in any glass as it was so busy! I'm not a glass snob but would accept a new glass if that is what they have to use!

  19. I orderd a 15 in K041 format, I received a K095 Mount. The seller is sending me out the proper bar and a return label. Am telling you, Ireland is no joke, just about everything goes wrong.
  20. I have been using my RRP for months so I climbed on BDB yesterday and it reminded me how bloody brilliant it is!

  23. Building on the success of its popular SG-40 series, Bandit has introduced the new SG-40H hydraulic-driven stump grinder, designed to reduce maintenance and boost efficiency for tree-care professionals across the UK. The SG-40H features a side-mounted hydraulic cutter wheel drive, eliminating the need for periodic belt maintenance while providing consistent grinding torque. Its 47-inch cutter wheel swing can be fitted with either 16 Greenteeth Bandit or 24 Hex Teeth New Revolution wheels. Powered by a 40hp Vanguard EFI petrol engine and equipped with a heavy-duty track drive system, the machine delivers superior mobility across soft or challenging terrain. Additional features include electric cutter wheel engagement, generous fuel and hydraulic capacity for extended operation, a three-position pivoting control panel, and intuitive joystick operation for maximum visibility and precision. Compact dimensions make the SG-40H ideal for tight or confined work sites. Edward Baker, Managing Director at Global Machinery Solutions, commented: “These enhancements make the SG-40H faster, safer, and more productive, meeting the needs of professional tree-care, landscaping, and grounds maintenance operations. “The SG-40H takes everything operators love about the SG-40 – power, reliability, and intuitive controls – and enhances it with a hydraulic cutter wheel drive. This reduces maintenance and increases efficiency. “It’s a real game-changer for UK tree-care and landscaping professionals, and we’re proud to be the exclusive UK dealer for this innovative machine.”

    ArbDogs? Pics!

I called Sailor off a deer chase this morning. At distance, at speed, well committed. IN FRONT OF A WITNESS! What a result. The scene on a different, more atmospheric day. It’s remarkably nice now.
