Tree Removal Job in a Conservation Area | What’s the Right Way to Do It?

The multimeter was more to test the new start switch block compared to the old one before fitting rather than diagnosing the damage done by "slapping a new one on" and crossing ones fingers😉 Just look at what electrical kit resides around where the smoke was coming from...coils, starter, wiring and then check it out or swap it out. You could look at what the new switch energised that it shouldn't have, doesn't sound that nice...good luck.

Reasonable execution, horrific idea. Thing of the amount of money that used up that could have gone to more saws😉

Sounds like a plan, cloudless night, new moon, and something nice. Got a rebranded Lidl number or Glenlivet at the front of the cupboard.

Building on the success of its popular SG-40 series, Bandit has introduced the new SG-40H hydraulic-driven stump grinder, designed to reduce maintenance and boost efficiency for tree-care professionals across the UK. The SG-40H features a side-mounted hydraulic cutter wheel drive, eliminating the need for periodic belt maintenance while providing consistent grinding torque. Its 47-inch cutter wheel swing can be fitted with either 16 Greenteeth Bandit or 24 Hex Teeth New Revolution wheels. Powered by a 40hp Vanguard EFI petrol engine and equipped with a heavy-duty track drive system, the machine delivers superior mobility across soft or challenging terrain. Additional features include electric cutter wheel engagement, generous fuel and hydraulic capacity for extended operation, a three-position pivoting control panel, and intuitive joystick operation for maximum visibility and precision. Compact dimensions make the SG-40H ideal for tight or confined work sites. Edward Baker, Managing Director at Global Machinery Solutions, commented: “These enhancements make the SG-40H faster, safer, and more productive, meeting the needs of professional tree-care, landscaping, and grounds maintenance operations. “The SG-40H takes everything operators love about the SG-40 – power, reliability, and intuitive controls – and enhances it with a hydraulic cutter wheel drive. This reduces maintenance and increases efficiency. “It’s a real game-changer for UK tree-care and landscaping professionals, and we’re proud to be the exclusive UK dealer for this innovative machine.”

I called Sailor off a deer chase this morning. At distance, at speed, well committed. IN FRONT OF A WITNESS! What a result. The scene on a different, more atmospheric day. It’s remarkably nice now.

Trying to learn a bit more about how a pheasant shoot works beyond just turning up on a Saturday and shouting. A mate lent me this. Any other book recommendations? Instructional and short preferably. No need for lovely long stories of country life. More a manual.

Morning all, Lovely blue sky here. Chilly but no frost. Having my second/booster shingles vaccine this afternoon. First time gave me a sore arm. Happy Christmas Eve.

Its an interesting conundrum. Id say in the UK, fear of theft etc would deter companies from prominent 'yards'. Everywhere I worked when in the UK was hidden in an industrial area, or down a farm track, never outward facing signage. Here in Canada, theft is not an issue, but you never see big roadside advertising for tree firms, I do wonder if it would be helpfull though, put the company name in peoples heads. Truck signage however is very effective in my mind. I wouldnt know how France differs, Id be tempted to give it a go for a year maybe 2 and see, its only a lock up, not hard to move into and out of.

Used a Forst TR6 and TR8 both are great as usual an 8 inch machine is so much more productive at the expense of being easy to get into places. The vari track 8 inch forst maybe the quickest chipping machine I've used. I've seen a lot of broken forsts in my time though so I wouldn't get one. Greenmech 165 Evo I think is the best of the 230 size chippers. The 205 Evo on tracks is great but it feels like a big unit in the woods tracking about . Jenson 540 is again an slightly bigger than 6" but a great machine. The rocking track base for level is a bit crap Vs veritrsck. Dealer backup is shocking. Check out the greenmech it's great. The bigger timberwolf like the 280 have variable track speed which is a good send it you use it to go rough places. Not sure if it's an option on a 230 tracked as I've not used one.

Some very hard wood is best mixed with softwood or split a bit smaller, oak and laurel come to mind. As others have said, to test the wood correctly, take a big lump, split it and measure the centre. Looking at your picture again, it looks like a piece of some sort of palm...a bit weird.

VID_20251223_171601.mp4 A repeat client, newly retired from a caravan dealership where he worked as a fitter/mechanic, took these motors off a caravan that had been in an accident. In exchange for some tree work and firewood, I now don't need to pop a vein in my neck pushing 1000kg into my garage each evening. Yet to try it on grass but I've a job in January where we can give it a Wang. Just in case it doesn't work, my colleague will bring his 4x4 mower to tow it into place. It this proves successful, I'll look at a more beefed up jockey. I need to adjust a rubber air hose to give the control box under the hood more room. I'll also upgrade the battery for a higher capacity one. VID_20251223_155548.mp4 VID_20251223_121329.mp4

You can leave it alone; eventually, the adult insect emerges. If you’re curious, you could put it in a ventilated container and watch from a distance.

Yes . Since I was 5 or 6 years old . 😄

I am gonna try these next. i have had two pairs of Aku and got 7 years out of my first pair and on the 8th year in my second pair. Only used for pruning though. If the chainsaw boots last as long then they with be worth the extra coin. https://www.aku.com/en-nor/products/cimbra-gtx-orange-blue?srsltid=AfmBOopdBA-UpRC6WOaE4i21zuzx2Bl_ioJ_ynsDdj9-9wown9a_S2Z1yDA
