Are these trees passed the point of savings?
Peter 1955 replied to Thunderpies's question in Homeowners Tree Advice Forum
Leylandii are a law unto themselves. They can turn their toes up on a whim, or return to greenery over a long, long period. I agree with you about those ones, I wouldn't rate their chances, and even if they did recover , they're not particularly impressive things anyway. I can think of a lot better replacements, Laurel would work if you just wanted evergreen cover that can be controlled. -
Well, given it a bloody good clean, and I think it's mechanical. Weird, as never had an issue with Ali crabs

How long have you had the 300 and how do you like it?

Personally, I would set up a Paypal account. I use Paypal regularly to buy and sell things. I would be reticient to use it as a soul source of payment, but it has its moments. Just add on any merchant fees to your fee.

Hush now, he is only knarky that this government has gone behind the Brexiteers backs and actually talked nice to the EU, and the French

On the rare occasion I was forced into railway stuff cos I had no other work, the ability to roll a decent joint was always considered a desirable skill. I know guys who do it, I know they wouldn’t be doing it for the minimum wage that’s for sure.

Brother broke his shooting stick Made a new stick from elm but it was too bendy so made this one out of ash. Tested my sowing skills on the leather

The unloading was really no bother. The loading is what killed me. It probably wouldn't have fitted on a tipper without massive greedy boards, which a luton in effect has. Character building stuff.

A good sharp hand saw, for light reductions. when I’m using a chainsaw, I tend to cut off more then I should. to each his own

I've heard the advice that you shouldn't be selling this job; you should be selling the ten after that. Which does sound good but is quite open ended.

I think the idea of using an impact driver as a way of managing the reaction torque is novel. To me it does have the whiff of snake oil about it, if you could suddenly increase cutting tool performance and life by a factor of two then people like Dormer and Sandvik would be all over it. After all cutting tools have been thought about a lot, by a lot of people. I suspect they are twice as good as cheap tat, and more equivalent to the decent ones that few people buy.

I run a setup not dissimilar to the one shown. Here the chip stays onsite 90% of the time, the versatility of a tracked machine with a drawbar and winch is unrivaled .

Again I something similar, I use a quad bike and a flail mower, the advantage being the quad bike has other uses about the place, trailer towing, dragging etc.

That could be a lovely gaff, if/when I settle in a pile of bricks it will be in Suffolk, or the Staffordshire Moorlands/Peak District

Anyone use pick up trucks for small/medium tree and hedge jobs?
nepia replied to Lou Brown's topic in Arb-Trucks
I've used Navara Kingcabs for 18 years. You can add a trailer to carry more and/or make up some greedy boards. Do you have a tripod ladder? If so you can use it to hold down several dumpy bags of arisings; stand on the ladder to press the dumpy bags down and to get the front feet down into the back of the buck against the tailgate and strap the thin end to the ladder rack behind the cab (you need one of those to put mesh onto to protect the rear screen). All sounds a bit niche but it's how I've done small tree and hedge work for all that time (with the trailer bit).
