OK, sensible suggestion... This falls under duty of care, duty of care only kicks in when the tree owners are aware of the issue. Simply write them a letter stating that the tree species is inappropriate to be planted so close to property. clay soils etc and may cause property damage. They have a duty of care to ensure their trees don't cause damage to other people's property. Let them know that now that they have been made aware of the potential issue they or their insurance will be liable for any subsequent damage. Send letter 'signed for' delivery so you have proof they got the letter. Problems are not likely to happen for a few years so relax and let the tree grow. Prune any overhang back as necessary and if there are any structural issues in the future you have a legal footing and proof of their negligence in managing the tree.

If petrol is acceptable, then I would go with a clone 2511 with a carving bar and 3/8" FC chain. I planned to do a comparison yesterday, against the Echo, but ran out of time. The clone runs significantly better for only slightly more weight, a better stop switch too. Fires up every pull and never cuts out between cuts/off throttle like the Echo does. A while back I did a comparason between the Makita uc029 40v and a Fakita 18v. While they both do the job, the Makita is significantly quicker and a 4ah battery lasts ages, even cutting 6" or bigger. It’s not my idea. There have been various up-tree rigging devices over the years, including a shrouded portawrap that prevents rope pinch. And there’s still a lot going for the layout. Hence why I suspect Matty’s safebloc strategy is pretty good.

Other groundy, I got the video on my way back from brush dragging. Customer wants all the brush chipped into the woodland so theres about 6 big brush stacks ready for chipping about 30 meters away. He'll need to hire a tracked chipper for that. Theres quite a lot so I suggested 2 days hire, its about £450 from the local shop. The other option was drag it to the driveway and chip there, but the grass was turning to wet boggy mud and would have been destroyed by it.

Well I agree with some of your analysis. Some of the above are just catalists, not causes. I would add to your list human nature (greed, envy, ego, inability to think critically and analytically and plain old selfishness) and 'The Establishment'. Especially the educational establishment, especially universities. Since when is education supposed to be political? And lastly the general unwillingness to engage in discussion and debate (which I think starts at school). By the way I have particular beef with schools as my boy was reported to the anti-terror radicalisation program (Prevent) by his school because his beliefs were not left enough. And our lovely government are going to roll out training for teachers specifically to help them spot non-left views! Of course they say they will train teachers to spot extreme right views, but if you are interested I can tell you what views my boy was reported for. In case you don't know, around 8000 referrals are made to Prevent each year, the majority of them schoolchildren. And the largest type of referral is for far right ideaology. And just to top off my winge about the education system; of those Prevent referrals 83% are deemed not to warrant any actual intervention - which of course sort of confirms that schools are seeing extreme radicalisation even when it doesn't exist. Or to put it another way, they are guilty of viewing everyone who doesn't see the world the way they do as a Nazi.

Sort of answered my own question there, by getting some spanners out and taking the fittings apart. Turns out one end is 3/8" BSP and the other (grab) end is 1/2" BSP. I think. And, in case it helps someone else, these fittings are all female; at one end (bottom of the picture) on mine there's a male to male adapter. Ordered some stuff. See if it fits.

We could reverse our car to the shops, it’s do-able but going forward is just the better way! That’s my thoughts on this.

Would try new ignition module, I had a 346xp play up last year would bog down and not run nice. After a lot of messing around with carb switched module with one out of another saw and it ran sweet.

Theres two small ponds of stagnant smelly water and I dont fancy a swim, not too much space that way, and I dont have any winching kit. One log, got a slight nudge and rolled into the pond and I havent yet worked out how to retrieve it - could likely reach it with a sharp hook tool as its not too heavy. Thanks for posting up the photos and details of this (somewhat harrowing!?) job/experience. I won't say anything here about the first chuck-and-run Climber... I am curious, though, to ask you if there wasn't space in the woodland (looking at your very first photo), to do a winched-felling of the entire tree (or maybe with a partially reduced canopy), down the slope -away from the court and photographer? If it was possible, would this not have simplified and speeded up the process (much cheaper!)? I'm guessing it's a 'no' -otherwise you would have done it already -but interesting to hear your response! 🤔
